Anyone ever been there? Mystery Mine is definitely one of the best coasters I've been on in a while. Plus the amount of detail is almost to disney scale. It definitely blew any expectations I had for it out of the water.

Thunderhead is great, the fly through the station is pretty much insane. Mystery Mine is definitely worth making a return trip, I rode that thing way too many times.

Well, when you go to SFGAdv, you'll have a new #1,#2,#3, and possibly and new #4

That's what makes Dollywood great, nearly everything is corny and kitschy. I was expecting the place to totally suck...but everything about that place is awesome. The food, the coasters, even the flat rides are great. Check out the Zamperla Dizzy Disk...its pretty much amazing.

Where (as in state, town, etc.) is Dollywood?
Austin

Pigeon Forge, TN. Right near Gatlinburg and the Great Smokey Mountains
EDIT: Err...Tigerace got to it before me. oh well.

07-30-2009, 11:42 PM
Isn't Pigeon Forge just supposed to be some over-priced tourist trap? I don't know much about it, so if that's completely off, correct me.
palmer
07-30-2009, 11:43 PM
Sounds fun, names corny. Perfect for me!

07-30-2009, 11:46 PM
Its pretty much a strip of nothing but go kart tracks, mini golf courses, and dinner shows. So tourist trap...maybe..but its kind of awesome in the respect that its so bad. Pigeon Forge is like a multi colored redneck trainwreck. you just have to check it out and appreciate what it is...and go to Dollywood of course.

Theyre adding a titanic meuseum which the building will be shaped like the titanic
and that's the grandiose strangeness of pigeon forge wrapped into one forum post. Only at PF would you find something like that.

I look forward to visiting it. Titanic was cool

That sucks that Dollywood is in a crappy town. at least SFGAdv is in Jackson, not Elizabeth, Newerk (sort of), M-town and especially Camden.
say hi
07-31-2009, 12:42 AM
Its not really a crappy town as much as it is..freakishly neon and full of buffets. oh wait...that may make it a crappy town.

Congratulations, you have found the final clue. To win the hunt, send Nitrofan a PM stating where you found each clue (including this one) and explain how you found the hint. Be sure to include the thread title and page for each hint in the PM.
Palmer has an idea. This text is written by nitrofan to disguise the hint for the hunt. It will be removed at a later time. Sorry Palmer. Ok, I think I am done rambling now. Goodbye and good luck.

Dollywood has said that they will be making a big announcement on their 2011 expansions in a few weeks. 2011 will be 4 years since Mystery Mine, so a new major coaster is entirely possible. Their last major coaster was built 3 years before that, so Dollywood seems to have fairly short time frames between coasters.
Any Speculation?

Maybe another wooden, but im out of ideas pretty much on what they can do.

Well it doesn't have to be a coaster. I was just speculating a coaster because the time frame worked for one.
There are still plenty of coasters that Dollywood could build. Maybe a low profile Intamin or some sort of launcher.
Austin

I would love some kind of launch coaster. Maybe get a license and do a dukes of hazard themed one haha
Changsucks
06-09-2010, 01:12 PM
Maybe something like Powder Keg?
Austin

Thats What I was thinking. Dukes of Hazard coaster would be pretty cool because you have so much to work with there.

Dolly Parton: The Experience. LOL Dukes of Hazard would be pretty cool. Like a car chase themeing to it. Something like that would help.

Haha I know palmer. Ive seen about 90% of all the episodes, and theres alot of stuff you could do. Like getting chased by Boss Hog and Enos, to that one episode where they had a race at the fair.

An epic dark ride themed to the beverly hillbillies?
In all seriousness though, something like powder keg would be really nice.

I think the perfect spot for a coaster, would be in the valley behind Tennessee Tornado. The station could be somewher around the train loop. And it could launch down the side of that mountain, prviding a fun thrilling ride. Without screwing up the natural beuty of the mountains.
IDK, Ive heard alot of rumors for 2011, its been said they could be getting a motocoaster. kinda like Pony Express, at Knotts Berry Farm.

2011 - New Attraction - Rumor - (6/28/10) Good rumor was sent in by a reader taking in a relaxing visit to Dollywood this weekend. Being from the Branson area, they showed off their season pass from Silver Dollar City to get a discount on the tickets. Upon seeing this the Dollywood employee asked them what they thought of the Great Swing ride at SDC? Why? Because Dollywood is apparently getting one for 2011. Great news for sure if they follow through, so now the question is… where will it go?

I went to dollywood today, I rode the train. To see if I could see any construction, nothing going on in the train loop at all. No Dirt, nothing but I did see them clearing land. It was behind Thunderhead, It was hard to see through the trees.I think the giant swing may go in their, if the rumors are true. We shall see.

PIGEON FORGE — Dollywood is preparing for a barn raising, quickly followed by the arrival of their newest attraction in 2011 — the Barnstormer. The $5.5 million giant swing will be situated in a barnyard-themed area which will also include play area for younger guests.
The Barnstormer pays homage to the daring aerialists and stunt pilots of the 1920s and is designed to give its riders an idea of what being a passenger in one of the planes would be like.
“I remember my daddy and granddaddy talking about the old barnstormers that used to do all kinds of crazy stunts above the fields where they’d work crops,” Dolly Parton said. “My new Barnstormer ride offers folks those same breathtaking moments, high in the sky above Dollywood. And I’ve recreated a critter-themed barnyard that reminds me of growing up on the farm here in the Smoky Mountains!”
The ride features two pendulum arms with seating for 32 riders. Seated back to back, riders travel progressively higher on each swing of the Barnstormer’s massive arms, reaching a maximum speed of 45 miles per hour and 230 degrees of rotation. At its peak, the Barnstormer reaches 81 feet in the air, taking riders high above the barn’s rooftop and the area’s treetops.
The one-acre project will be located in the area currently occupied by Dreamland Forrest and adjacent to the Mountain Slidewinder, one of park’s most popular rides which opened in 1987. The Barnstormer will rest amid a traditional red barn on the Owens Farm, a nod to Parton’s family’s rural upbringing.
While the Barnstormer fills the air above the barn, children’s play areas dot the landscape around the barn. With a fun, barnyard theme, children can enjoy a 22-foot by 16-foot bi-plane play area as well as a pig pen water play area.
The Barnstormer has a ride capacity of 450 passengers per hour, and a 45-inch minimum height requirement. It also includes a custom-designed ADA seat.
The new area opens in March 2011 to usher in Dollywood’s 26th operating season.
The number one ticketed attraction in Tennessee, Dollywood is an award-winning 150-acre family adventure park located in Pigeon Forge near the entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Open nine months a year (late March to early January), Dollywood hosts four of the South’s largest festivals and offers more than 40 rides and attractions, including Thunderhead, twice named the world’s No. 1 wooden coaster, and Mystery Mine coaster, Theme Park Insider’s 2007 Best New Attraction. In addition to the 2009 Golden Ticket Award for Best Shows, Dollywood is the recipient of 15 Big E Awards in recognition of the park’s live entertainment which features country, bluegrass, gospel and Appalachian music. The Golden Tickets’ 2007 Publisher’s Pick for best theme park, Dollywood also is a two-time winner of the Golden Ticket Award for Best Christmas Event. In addition, a dozen crafters authentic to the East Tennessee region demonstrate daily.

Dollywood has made a website where you can track this ride and its progress. I'm really liking the new facade.

I think Darien Lake is in need of something like this! These rides are great! The theming looks like its going along great! And according to the site the ride will open in 53 days... That seems like a short time to build the ride... But hey its probably possible lol!
