Got a newly completed project ready to give out to you guys that I believe you will like, a new rule to take effect soon, and other news from around the site.

Double Navbar Project

This has been a relatively minor project but it will have a major impact on how you use the site. For those who pay attention to the Tracker thread you would have seen this added this weekend. Starting tonight this will be brought to every skin making it mandatory. The second bar allows us to have more space for links and mods we previously got rid of.

It now has two bars, one under the banner and one just above the forums. The one under the banner is new. Its got all the original links and more to allow us and the members to use the site easier and quicker.

Top Bar Links:

Home
Register
Forum
Members
Arcade
Calender (This is new to the navbar)
Chat
Media
Park Index
Rules
User CP
Admin CP (Only shows up for administrators)
Mod CP (Only shows up for moderators)

On the bottom bar alot of new links were added:

Garage and its drop down list - This was taken off to give us more space earlier this year. Now its back!
FAQ - New to the list and will be very helpful I think to some users
Quizzes - Taken off to give us more room for other links.
Staff Bio's - New to the navbar. Lets members learn more about us if they want to.
Community drop down list of links - This was an original link on Vbulletin that we didnt use at all.
New Posts - Lets you see all the new posts since you were last online
Who's Online - New to the navbar. Name says it all
Contact Us - Already on the navbar
Search - Already on the navbar
Log Out - Already on the navbar

In the future I want to put a link to the radio when its finished, and I might possibly add a link to the trip report's forum.

Also what do you guys think about making a page on the site for park announcements? We could then add a link the navbar that says 2011 Park Announcements and then just change the link every year to 2012 Park Announcements and etc.

So far in preliminary testing (asked bobbinbop20 to try it out) its been overall positive.

Yeah adding a link to the trip reports would be a big help for me haha. I like it alot, it makes it quicker to get to certain things, without distracting to much from the page, good job as always! - Bobbinbop20

So there you go, if you got any questions about it let us know and we will help you.

New Spelling/Grammar Rule

We have decided the draft version is good enough to be an official rule for the site. This will address our issue here with spelling and grammar that members have complained about in the survey and in past surveys.

Here is your first look at the rule:

Spelling - Amusement Park Authority will not tolerate excessive improper spelling and grammar. A typo here and there is acceptable, but illegible posts are not. If you have trouble spelling we encourage you to switch to Mozilla Firefox because it has a built in spell checker in it, or install the Google's Toolbar for its spell checker. Depending on the severity of the violation, we will either edit or remove your post. If we have to edit too many of your posts, you may receive an infraction or a warning, and remember that too many infractions could get your account suspended. Text Message shorthand or "l77t" speak is allowed but do not overuse it. Remember that you have time to properly compose and edit messages on the forums prior to posting them.

For those worried we wont start enforcing this for at least two weeks to give you time to make changes and develop better proof reading habits. If you have problems or questions about this rule also let us know so we can make changes if needed.

Also dont forget to check out the rules from time to time. http://amusementparkauthority.com/index.php?pageid=rules

Amusement Park Authority Project Tracker: Public Edition

I have launched the public edition earlier this week. It allows you to see the latest project status's and what all is going on basically. To check it out go here: http://amusementparkauthority.com/forums/showthread.php?t=669

Staffing Changes

After completing an observational period we have decided to promote Nitrofan from being just a part Admin and Moderator to full Administrator status. So congrats Nitro!

With his promotion he has decided he would like to have a new moderator replace him and we might also add another new moderator in addition to his replacement. If we do it would replace Say Hi, but Say Hi will only be moved to a "retired" staff group and will still have some moderating abilities to help the site.

Along with the new moderators we are looking for a writer to help us get our article section off the ground. The writer would also moderate the article section.

Details on these hiring's will be posted later on this weekend.

As always thanks for reading!

We put a list of questions up and then ask you to fill them out then email them to us. its questions like what makes you qualified for the position, do you have previous experience etc.

I did and I 100% agree with you on the parks status, everyone knows the park was successful with Hart as leader. If Six Flags had just taken the time to put just a little effort into the park it would not be the way it is today. As for the park being in,"horrible", shape yes it does need some paint here and there but, if the park was really as bad as everyone says there would be far more obvious signs.

Well its all internal. They made the outside look nice but the staff areas is where the problems are. Like the stairs in the wave building. Their logic must have been "No guests will ever see this so we can cut corners here"

Well the internal is not as bad as it seems, I'm not saying it's perfect nor am I saying its totally ruined, what I am saying is it needs work.

Austin, you used "a" in front of a vowel instead of "an" in your post about a new grammer rule! haha

And for anyone interested in any of the staff positions, even if you don't think you're qualified, you should definately apply. We consider your qualifications as well as your general forum activity, and what do you have to lose by applying?

Lol thanks for the catch Nitro. Firefox catches all the typos but its not that great at grammar.

May I add that Google Chrome also does a great job catching spelling errors. Though, just like Firefox its grammar skills are below average...

Google Chrome doesn't work on this site though. Logs me out every time.

I've noticed on all vBulletin sites.

I'm using Chrome right now actually. I noticed that it logged me out of GAdv.com all the time though. Annoying...
