2. Flotation Station/Lazy Days Lagoon- Take a relaxing float down the 16-foot wide Lazy River. Guests are only allowed to float in tubes on Flotation Station, and guests cannot swim or walk. There will only be single tubes available to the guest and a wave pool experience with gently rolling waves and "beachfront" deck space where parents can relax while their kids play. (now there is 2 wave pools) http://www.godarienlake.com/Uploaded_Files/28/includes/images/gallery_waterpark/6.jpg

Any rumors of Boomerang getting the new trains?

I have asked them before and they said they have been thinking about it. But im thinking maybe the next few years? obviously they want to keep it and make the ride better (hense the new coat of paint) Since Predator got new trains im guessing Mind Eraser or Boomerang is next! PARC is always trying to find ways to make there parks/ rides better and more family oriented. And try to cut down maintenance costs not by doing less maintenance but say new trains that need for less maintenance or in this case Predator's new trains are supposed to help with the structure and minimize maintenance costs by a little. If anyone is understanding what i just said congrats lol! if u don't then forget it lol!

Actually Darien Lake is the only park PARC cares for lol. I just get that from the record at the other parks they own. Virus outbreaks traced to their parks, subpar customer service, not very clean etc etc. But Darien Lake is somehow not like that all. Looks like its going to be a good year for Darien.

well Darien Lake is the one making the most money so thats gonna get more.. But this year is the year of water park... Cause one of the water parks is getting a 6 slide racing water slide. and Magic Springs is getting a flow rider (wave simulator) and in 2008 Frontier City got a new family roller coaster (along with Darien Lake)

Darien Lake has decided to revert it back to its original look (color) now as your might notice the trains look the same... so the ride is some what original anyways. But what do you think about the decision to paint it the color it used to be?

Jp

I like the green paint job better..

DarienLake:D
05-02-2010, 05:09 PM
I like the green paint job better..

i do also. I kinda understand that the original color would bring back memories to some people. But every decision pisses some people off. In this case about half the people will be like yay its back to its old self (ahh memories) others will be like nooo i liked it when it was green! Its been like that since i was born therefore im used to it that way. Well probably after a few years they will be like oh kinda think about it this looks kinda nice. I bet after a few years i will grow to like this color. Its one of those situations really

DarienLake:D
06-28-2010, 02:28 PM
Now i have e-mailed Darien Lake and PARC Management about what they could put into Darien Lake without having to take out any current rides.

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk108/RollerCoasterMaster2/maybe.jpg

I was thinking that a S&S Combo Tower could fit into that space East of Mind Eraser (the red and turquoise coaster). I said its enough of Family based attractions i like the idea of those, but its time for a new thrill ride to come to Darien Lake!

I am all about the future of Darien Lake and i do agree with the addition of the family based attractions but i do think it is time for some kind of thrill ride to be added to Darien Lake! I know the park is getting close to getting a little bit full, I have an idea that has a small footprint but gives out maximum thrill! I have ridden one of these and different versions of these in parks but i think this is the best of them all. It is called a 'Combo Tower" from S&S Worldwide, Inc. Here is the description they have about the ride.

"Always pushing the envelope, the innovators at S&S Worldwide, Inc. designed the Combo Ride™, a synergy of the Space Shot® and Turbo Drop™ (two rides - one tower). In combining these legendary rides into a one-tower ride, there is a thrill for everyone, going up or down.

Like its predecessor towers, the Combo Ride has a small footprint and a pleasingly high people per hour capability. The Combo Ride is ideal for parks needing a single ride tower with the ability to thrill passengers, either blasting up or dropping faster than free fall. With eager anticipation, riders will keep returning for both positive and negative G-force ride sensations from the Combo Ride."

I have ridden one of these which has the combo tower and i do believe it trully is better then any shot/drop tower out there! And it would be a great addition to Darien Lake and sure to bring thrill seekers from all over to the park! So maybe in the next few years this ride could be installed either way i would love to see one of those rides to come to NY and have one closer to home to enjoy for a long time!

-Eric-

Now it has been stated from PARC that they believe in Darien Lake! Would they of invested $10 Million this season alone if they did not believe the park could attract more guests and be even more of a success? They have probably invested maybe close to $15-20 Million into the park since the purchase late 2006! Might i also add that we have not had a flat ride come to Darien Lake since 2000? the only flat that came to Darien Lake was in 2002 which was a up charge attraction. Darien Lake is in need of a new thrilling flat ride and well if they put this in they will be set for a while when it comes to flats!

darienlake

I think that would be a great add to the park.

I wish GADV could get an S&S Combo Tower....

Well, I have ever bben to the park, and I don't know much about it. I'm guessing it would be nice to put in a tower into the park. i don't know about you guys in Darien Lake, but I have S&S withdrawals. Probably because GADV doesn't have any (well not that I 100% know of off the top of my head).

Darien Lake offers glamour camping
You have to spend money to make money and it looks the owners of Darien Lake Resort are doing just that. Parc Management has invested $10 million in Darien Lake this season. Visitors will find a new water park called SplashTown, new attractions at the theme park like Sea Lion Splash and new overnight accommodations that fit into a new trend called "glamour camping" or "glamping."

The changes may be of interest to consumers, but more importantly they show that Parc Management sees Darien Lake as a worthwhile investment. Randy Drew, president and CEO of Parc Management, says the financial commitment will help return Darien Lake to its heyday. "We expect attendance to increase this summer, back to the old days when Darien Lake put in the Ride of Steel and made some other attractions," Drew said. "This is the first really large capital in ten years that has gone into Darien Lake."

Drew says the changes are aimed to please local customers by creating treasured family memories, but also to bring in new visitors from outlying areas by offering the so-called “glamping” where guests can rough it, in-style. Darien Lake General Manager Chris Thorpe says new cabins will make the theme park an "outer market regional destination" for out of town visitors. "New this year, we have 24 lakeside cabins. They offer all the amenities of a hotel stay, but with the rustic experience of camping," Thorpe said. "You can roast marshmallows and have a campfire, but also have internet and watch cable TV."

Will the $10 million investment pay off? Stay tuned. But both Drew and Thorpe say they're looking forward to a solid year and to future expansions. "Parc absolutely believes in Darien Lake and we will continue, as we have in the years that we've owned the park to make continual investments in Darien Lake," Drew said. "We have additional plans to expand the park in the future and we will be expanding Darien Lake."

Cashless Wristbands
Darien Lake is happy to offer Stored value wristbands to guests in 2010.
Stored value wristbands work very similar to a debit card, except you can wear them on your wrist and not worry about losing them. they are water proof and can be worn in our water attractions.

Stored value wristbands can be purchased at Guest Services, Darien Lake Trading Company, The Emporium, Lakeview Gifts, Backwoods Gifts, Lodge on the Lake Gifts and the SplashTown Surf Shop. You can choose to put any amount of money on a wristband that you choose.

Stored Value wristbands can be used to pay at almost any stand of the park and guests that use the Stored Value wristband will receive a 10% discount on any purchases made at Food or Gift Locations that accept the wristband as payment (entire order must be paid for with value off a wristband).

Guests can check the remaining balance on their wristband at any shop/location that accepts the wristband.

Rapid Ride Pass
Offer an Option to Skip the lines on all the RollerCoaster. Signs are posted on how to use this new sytem and where to buy it! More Details Soon!

Ride Of Steel Closed and Giant Wheel Renovations
Ride Of Steel has been Closed for the past 3 Days. The area to enter the ride has been fenced off with a Sign. "Sorry Ride Of Steel is Closed today" along with a sign posted at the ticket booths and main gates. Romor has it that the Ride will be closed for the rest of the season.

The Giant Wheel (Ferris Wheel) is also getting some TLC now. Check Out the Picture below:

I really hope Ride of Steel is just being fixed and not closed for the rest of the season! And yay the giant wheel is getting more attention but is it too early to start doing stuff with the season in full swing?

Wow, that would be a big loss for the park having Ride of Steel closed long term. I guess it's kind of a trend with PARC properties.

08-01-2010, 06:35 PM
I'm personally thinking that the ride is just broken and being that its the only ride over there they can block off the area. Or they are closing the ride for a few days to get the red train back on the track as soon as possible. Because it had to be repaired and taken off the track etc... But these are just a few possibility's with the park's popularity i doubt its a lack of maintenance or operation fund and if it was they would not close there major attraction!

Ride Of Steel back in Service!!
Both Darien Lake and PARC Management report on their Facebook Pages that the Ride of Steel is now back in service!!

Glad to hear that the rumors are NOT TRUE about being closed for the rest of the season!!

Great news - Just heard Ride of Steel ZoooooooooooM past my office full of happy guests. We apologize for any disappointment while it was down for maintenance issues.

Darien Lake Named one of the "Best Water Theme Parks"
Darien Lake was listed on a list of 6 parks as Best Water Theme Parks!

"After a major expansion in 2010, SplashTown at Darien Lake got the capacity and rides to qualify as a major water park. Among SplashTown's featurees are the Tornado fullen ride, the huge Big Kahuna family raft ride, the Cuda Bay and swirl city slide towers, the Crocodile Isle wave pool, and Hooks Lagoon, an interactive water play area for the young kiddos"
Seems to be the only thing they did not mention was the new Lazy Days Lagoon...

Yeah :D and the park is good and full of family friendly rides's it has some thrill rides (most of there coasters and few flats). And i like how recently the park has added family friendly attractions. But i think its time for a new thrilling flat ride. I suggested to them a S&S Combo Tower next to Mind Eraser which is a perfect spot because there is an open space defiantly enough room. My mom said they should put in a ride like Max Air (she must be in love with it haha!) But they have a big footprint and right now the park does not need a big foot print ride...

not a bad price, like the parking deal for families. How much s a season parking pass normally?

DarienLake:D
03-14-2011, 04:29 PM
This years prices are $69.99 or 4 pack of $65.99/pass and when you buy 4 passes you get free parking for the season. And to buy season parking for non 4 packs is $20. I remember going to CP and paying more then $10 for parking for just one day. Usually parking at Darien Lake for the day is $7 which is probably the cheapest price I have seen for a park that charges for parking..

Austin
03-14-2011, 04:32 PM
What? You would rather pay 7-10 dollars a day to park instead of paying $20 for a whole year?

darienlake
03-14-2011, 04:41 PM
To Park a Day at Darien Lake is $8.00 not 7 and a Season Long Parking is $20.00. If your a season pass holder then the parking pass is the better deal

mrceagle
03-14-2011, 08:47 PM
Actually $8 dollars is practically nothing. SFNE is 15 for standard parking and 25 for preferred. The season parking pass is, I believe, $50 dollars.

Well of the parks I have been to Darien Lake was the cheapest (and I'm just stating parks that actually charge) Seabreeze about 15mins away from me offers free parking and such. But yeah $8 is nothing. Your there for more then maybe 10-12 hours they are somewhat keeping your car safe from outside people steeling or breaking into your car. Which it has happened (not to Darien Lake that Ive heard) but other then that yeah its really not bad at all.. I wouldn't mind giving them $5-8 but once you go over $15 or so then I do kinda mind lol!

Darien Center, NY (April 12, 2011) - Darien Lake Theme Park Resort (Darien Lake), New York’s largest theme and water park vacation destination, opens for the 2011 season on May 14 with new family cabins, six new live shows and three in-park concerts including American Idol winner Jordin Sparks and Nickelodeon star Miranda Cosgrove. In-park concerts are free with admission and to season pass holders.

“One of the best things about Darien Lake is you can stay where you play. Our all-inclusive park resort means families who stay at the park’s hotel or campground have unlimited access to the theme and water park. You can park your car and never use it again during your visit,” said Christopher Thorpe, Darien Lake’s general manager. “And we are budget-friendly too -- guests who purchase a Family Four Pack of season passes by May 30, get free parking all season long and bring-a-friend-free coupons.”

New summer entertainment for all ages

Platinum-selling and the youngest ever American Idol winner Jordin Sparks and a guest appearance by Avery kick off the Time Warner Cable in-park summer concerts on May 21. Dance rock sensations Neon Trees with special guest We the Kings take the stage May 28. Nickelodeon’s very own iCarly, Miranda Cosgrove, performs July 16 with YouTube sensation Greyson Chance.

Everyone’s favorite #1 blue engine, Thomas the Tank Engine™, makes his park premiere this summer in Thomas & Friends™ Full Steam Ahead Live! an interactive show for kids. In this fun-filled adventure, kids embark on adventures with Thomas as he experiences timeless life lessons including discovery, friendship and cooperation.

Marking the debut of the first South American male sea lion born in the U.S., Sea Lion Splash: A Family Affair stars a baby sea lion. Freddie joins the sea lions in the Galaxy Theatre exclusively at Darien Lake. Kids and parents have the opportunity to learn about animal behavior and conservation while being entertained by the sea lions’ inherent antics.

In addition to these new shows, the entertainment line-up also includes:

Legends of Rock - a non-stop tribute to some of the greatest rock n’ roll legends of all time.
Jump, Jive and Swing – a show that “taps” into the rhythms of the Swing era and celebrates iconic and timeless hits.
Countdown to Fun – a new morning tradition at Darien Lake’s Main Gate.
Midway Dance Party Blowout – a daily afternoon family party at the Gazebo Stage.

Darien Lake Theme Park Resort Expands Accommodations

New family places to stay and conveniences

In response to guests’ feedback, Darien Lake has doubled the size of its Brown Bear Cabins area this year. The new cabin additions are built in a “village style” setting with a common play area for children. The play area surrounds the cabin village allowing children another fun way to spend their day, while still being within earshot of the grownups.

The cabin additions are designed for larger families to spend time together in a relaxed environment, and still be steps away from the thrills of the theme park and water park. Each cabin includes a fireplace, loft, bedroom, fully-equipped kitchen, eating area, wireless internet and a flat screen television. And families can enjoy the great outdoors by relaxing on the front porch or cooking up some fun on the outdoor fire-pit and gas grill.

Another addition for families this summer at Darien Lake is the Family Care Center. Conveniently located in the theme park, the Family Care Center provides baby changing centers, nursing stations for mothers and enhanced family bathrooms.

Darien Lake Theme Park opens for the 2011 season May 14. SplashTown Water Park opens May 20. All shows and in-park family concerts are included with admission. All-inclusive season passes are on-sale now at www.GoDarienLake.com. Family Four Packs bought and activated by May 30 include free parking and bring-a-free-friend coupons.

Im excited about the baby sea lion! And Im quite happy with the addition of more cabins (and bigger ones too). I personally have not been in the cabins but they do look amazing. And these bigger ones should be a great addition. They should really start to replace some of the older camper rentals. Either that or clean them more often because they looked nasty from the outside when I camped there last fall.

2012 - New Attraction(s) - In Development - (4/14/11) It has been mentioned that the park is close to finalizing a deal for an unknown new attraction for 2012, which is a great sign to have a deal like that in the bag so early. No word on what kind of ride it could be, but cross your fingers and hope for something good.

Interesting. i guess we can Way in what DL doesn't have with rides that have been popular purchases for HFE. The barn Stormer, S&S Screaming swing comes to mind.

Whatever it is I hope it changes the skyline forever :) We are in need of a ride that you could easily see from most of the park. Something tall. Something THRILLING! That is a flat ride that is

Are you saying a Flat ride is gong to do the trick or is not enough.

I went looking and seem to have found and answer. It looks like the park dose not have any tower ride. I also noticed the park seem to have a batting cage attraction by Vipers Boomerang. A tower ride could fit there easily and it would vastly impact the parks sky line since the spot is nearly a hundred foot to the right of the Ferris wheel.

We do need a drop tower ride theres also some land by the Mind Eraser. I would be just as happy with a S&S Screaming swing.

That does not seem like enough room for anything too big.... Also there were rumors of possibly tearing down either the log ride or the river raft ride and built a completely new and different one.

Removing the rapids rides for a new rapids ride doesn't make much sense. it would be easier and more cost effective to rehab the existing one. I could a new Flume, a new one would be within a a million and Would be easier to maintain. I believe the one they have is an Arrow.

The Batting cage area would be plenty for a 1-2 tower system a 3 tower system would require some work on the hill side. But if they went with a larger model like an intamin or moser it would fit there with 1 tower and offer an overall higher capacity.

A custom layout Gerstlauer spinning coaster, they can remove Grand Prix Speedway and the batting cage by the Viper for it.

I would think so, but so far only Six Flags had used 2 prefab designs.
Besides Darien lake is due for new ride in 2012.

My wild guesses for Darien Lake's new ride in 2012

. A junior coaster that adults can ride as well as kids
. A drop tower of some sorts
. A Halfpipe water slide
. A Zamperla Disk'O (Martin's Fantasy Island and Seabreeze has one)
. A Loop Fighter ride (Martin's Fantasy Island has the first one for the US)
. A Zamperla Rockin Tug

mrceagle
07-08-2011, 08:40 PM
Why should they get a Disco if Martin's Fantasy Island and Seabreeze has one? They should be looking to add something more unique.

The rumor I hear was the Windstorm form Celebration city which though a portable ride and a bit more intense fit's the coaster need your talking about.

I could see then installing a family ride like the rockn Tug at the same time.

DarienLake:D
07-09-2011, 09:16 AM
I only like your drop tower idea... None of them Darien Lake needs...... We don't need another water slide the waterpark was nicely expanded in 2010 and it should be set for a few more years... and we ESPECIALLY don't need WINDSTORM! We have enough family additions lately and our last thrill ride was built in 2002.... and that was Twister! We need something thrilling. MotoCoaster already does what windstorm does which is pretty much out and back a million times... WE DONT NEED IT! What we need is a new thrill ride!

mrceagle
07-09-2011, 04:18 PM
The similarities between wind storm and Moto coaster was the first thing I thought about also. I think a tower ride would be a good addition. not sure what their attendance is or what set up would work best. a 2 or 3 tower S&S or a higher capacity model form Itamin or Moser.

Beside a new ride for 2012 maybe Darien Lake should invest in more park improvements like new LED lighting on the Giant Wheel, turning Floodgate Falls' end pool int a lounge deck in Barracuda Bay, selling the Batman tracks, and painting a new mural on the Galaxy Theatre.

Screamscape Reported that ROS Chain Broke!

Park News - (8/12/11) Bad news for the Ride of Steel at Darien Lake, as earlier today the coaster’s lift hill chain broke shortly after 6pm. The stranded train a little over half-way up the lift was evacuated, but there is no telling how long it will take to reopen the ride. If they have a spare chain on site, it could be open in a day or two… if they have to order one, it could be a few weeks before it runs again.

Darien Lake seems to not getting good breaks this season. Unfortunately, due to repairs requiring customized parts, the Ride of Steel will be closed for the remainder of the season. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience. ROS will re-open next season.
With the season almost over I kinda understand there decision... Probably going to take to long to manufacture a chain and ship it over and install it. That or Hershend didn't allow them to extend there budget or something...

Has not been confirmed by park officials but it has been rumored that Raging Seas will be no longer at Darien Lake. With its age (built in 1981) the ride has worn down and I believe they do not make these rides anymore so some parts may be a nightmare to get. As some may know 3 cars have been not operating for some time now even before Six Flags sold the park. One of Darien Lake original's may be ready to say goodbye forever. Raging Seas is a Heinrich Mack GmbH & Co "Seesturmbahn"

Edit: I stand corrected. This ride still is manufactured just under a different name. It is now called "Sea Storm Ride"

Whats interesting is that Darien Lake DID have a Full Size train that went around the area that the waterpark is in now. I worked there last season and was by the rides shops and seen a old train. I was told that that was the old train ride but I think they still have the engine in storage too. And YES i agree that the Giant Wheel does need New Lights.

Also rumored that some rides might get moved around.

It was a Chance C.P. Huntington Train not a Chane Iron Horse, the train was move into storage in 1997 Crocodile Isle took over the remaining area of Adventure Land for Kids and three of the old Adventure Land rides were moved near the Mind Eraser as the "Tiny Trio", but Critter Chase remained in storage until 2010 when it replaced Raft Adventures in Advneutre Isle.

I agree that rides should themed and put in one area instead of just sprawled out throughout the park. Here are some theme suggestions a camping/forest theme or a country/westren theme.

Maybe in addtion to the new family rides they could do some general park improvements like putting a steel topper track on The Predator so it can enjoyed by more people, repainting the Mind Eraser and Ride of Steel, lower ticket prices, and add some Tim Hortons sprawled out park!

mrceagle

Some parts of the park are kind of themed like Hook's Lagoon has like a pirate island theme, Adventure Isle was originally themed to Popeye, then Looney Tunes and now there's no more theming in Adventure Isle making it most depressing kiddie land, the only things in the kidde land that are just generic "shells" of thier former themes are Twisty Tubs which are made to look like cans of spinach, Dispsy Diver a submarine themed Zamperla Crazy Bus ride, and Barrels of Fun which is a Feriss Wheel that had barrel shaped buckets. The Ride of Steel as we all know used to themed after Superman and had silver crystal by the station.

Well when Six Flags sold Darien Lake the Ride of Steel was stripped of its Superman theme. Frankly I think that Darien Lake should expand around the Hook's Lagoon theme, oh wait they already did that with Crocodile Isle wave pool and the Big Kahuna slide!

Ya not a fan of go carts myself. I was looking at he park and noticed a few things. they should relocate the picnic grounds, open up space for more park based attractions. they also should build new back stage building and remove the 2 closest to the park. that way they can have a midway loop around fro the rapids ride/amphitheater to the back of the park.

^ A go-kart is more suited for a family entertainment center as appose to a theme park, but I really think Darien Lake should just get rid of them and put something else in its place like a gift shop, a ride, a restaurant, or a carnival game complex.

But I really think Darien Lake should just relocate the picnic grounds and make them available to the general pubic again like they used to before Six Flags bought the park. Also they should put another indoor coaster in the building by Viper as well!

The new Darien Lake makes look like a direct competitor to Martin's Fantasy Island in Grand Island and Seabreeze in Rochester. I think Darien Lake is trying go for that whole "family park" thing with almost NOTHING for adults and teens (except for the Ride of Steel), just for families with children under the age of 12 and from the looks of the 2012 schedule looks like they're going to be doing some sort of fall festivities in September and early October, probably not going to called "Fright Fest".

Maybe this year Darien Lake will call it "Family Fall Festival", have it be less focused on Halloween, have all the rides open except for the water park, Grizzly Run, Thunder Rapids, and Shipwreck Falls, and the only Halloween oriented thing to be is the trick or treat trail for the kids and no haunted house!

I think Darien Lake was better before 1999 when they more slides in Barracuda Bay than just 'Cuda Falls, Nightmare at Phantom Cave, the train that went around Elk Lake, Crazy Quilt, Rainbow Mountain, and a some other stuff I don't remember from Darien Lake, but wished I did!

Well Austin Herschend comes from a religuis town not everybody in Darien Center is of a Christian faith and Darien Lake would have went down if funtime kept it

^ Well Funtime sold all their parks to Premier (later Six Flags) in the mid-1990s so Funtime became defunct and Premier/Six Flags took over Darien Lake until 2007 when Six Flags sold it to save the company money. So therefore if Darien Lake was sold to a different company before the mid-1990s they would still have the slides behind 'Cuda Falls, Nightmare at Phantom Cave, Cascade Canyon, the train that went around Elk, and Crazy Quilt.

But they wouldn't have got the Ride of Steel, Mind Eraser, Boomerang, Twister, Tornado, Big Kahuna, Shipwreck Falls, Motocoaster, Swirl City, Flotation Station, and Slingshot. All those said ride were put in during and after the Premier/Six Flags ownership era.

Funtime is still around but they run Lazer Tag,Arcade,Go Cart,Mini Golf type places they run one not to far from were I live called fun'N Stuff and there adding a flat ride but Funtime almost made Geauga Lake go out in the 1960's but Darien Lake would have been out buy now if funtime never sold it

Excuse me, but a Christmas/holiday event would be good for Darien Lake. They Could have the kiddie rides and the Giant Wheel open, one horse open sleigh rides, a photo op with Santa, a petting zoo with reindeer, a drive through the Campgrounds with light displays, an ice and snow play area, and a hot cocoa stand!

But my only gripe with that idea besides the weather issues is that the only that would be open is Brain Teaser and that just for kids! :(

Sorry Hawk, Six Flags no longer owns Darien Lake, but if they had holiday/Christmas event odds are the Lodge on the Lake hotel will be open and also the park would have a giant Christmas tree and a manger scene as well as the thing I've said in my previous post.

I ment the six flags hotel in Lake George New York and if Darien Lake opens the hotel all year around it would rake in more money

^Hawk, you do have a point about it, but I think Darien Lake should open a year round family entertainment center that's adjacent to the hotel!

As I said before Darien Lake really needs some changes to everthing like new lights for the Giant Wheel, repainting Mind Eraser and Ride of Steel, reopen Floodgate Falls, add a new family coaster, and lost of other things!

Thehawkman

Yes Darien Lake should do that but they need to add new rides

No, it's going to be three new wimpy little family rides that are geared to families with kids under 54" tall no reason for adults and/or teens to go them.
But if we're lucky one of the new rides might just be a family coaster. ;)

After 2 major problems with Ride of Steel I figured we would into see a coaster in 2012.

What that was is I had 2 friends that wile in the area stopped by Branson USA/Celebration city. They saw that he steel coaster was being loaded onto trucks and talked to the security guard at the gate next to the ride. they were told the coaster was being relocated to DL.

The 3 family rides should be good for them. it will jump the parks ride count and add some extra capacity. the park will then have the opportunity to get the problems with ROS fixed. If they had added a coaster it would have opened a can of warms. why are they adding another coaster when they can't take care of what they have.

As for a Halloween event. chances are ti was canceled because it wasn't doing well. Wild Adventures stile has a Halloween event, so it's not a company thing. But a Christmas event could be a great addition. parks seems pretty level and there is a good local population to support it.

I think the park has "jumped the shark" with the lame Motocoaster in 2008 (that's strike 1), Expansion of the water park (that's strike 2), and last but obviously the not least 3 new family rides this year (that's strike 3). so what I'm saying is that ever since Six Flags sold it Darien Lake has become nothing more than a Martin's Fantasy Island wannabe, but with more than one coaster that's worth riding!

Marketing for the Park could also use some improvements. To tease about new rides and wait till March of the following year to announce it. Doesnt seem like good marketing to me. For Example, Motocoaster was announced in Jan. and Splashtown was in March, of the year they were added. People won't buy passes unless theres something worth going there for. They should also add a Park Mascot to maybe improve marketing.

Darien Lake has gotten lazy for new ride announcement and waiting until the following year to announce it, but what would make a good mascot for Darien Lake?

Well here are some of my mascot ideas

. A barracuda for bay called "Barry Cuda"
. A bear dress as a lumberjack

I agree, and I hope they make improvements to the park like, putting new lights on the Giant Wheel, repainting the Ride of Steel and Mind Eraser, Using the boat in Adventure Isle for additional seating for the food stand there, turn the old high dive pole into a light house, bring back the mist effect for the Ride of Steel, move Slingshot to another area in the park and add more slides to Barracuda Bay, have a Christmas/holiday event in the park, and many more that I wanted to add, but I won't to keep this post short!

It's a great list, and anyone of them would be a positive change.

I would like to see then make what they have more pealing and add a few rides that merit a weekend trip for me.

I think you men to say "appealing" and I would like to see the following rides at Darien Lake in the future, a drop tower, the return of the train, and a family coaster.

Yes I meant Appealing. I would have to make a special trip. and current reports have been sub par with the care of the wood coaster rand overall quality of the park. A trip tower would be good. maybe a moser, I have been on plenty of S&S towers and there are a few more in the area I believe. A train or Mono rail would be a great family attraction. The steel coaster from Celebration City would cover anther family ride.

I personally would like to see a dark ride, preferably something unique. I don't me expensive just unique sets and story.

^ for a family coaster I was thinking more of a Gerslauer or Maure Sohne spinning coaster or a non-spinning wild mouse coaster.

Darien Lake used to have an indoor roller coaster that was in the dark, but even a non-coaster dark ride would be good for Darien Lake as well as a family coaster!

mrceagle
01-24-2012, 06:04 PM
I know the coaster well I road it at TGE before it was removed.

I would Imagine that the Thunderbold coaster form Celebration City would be a step above a mouse. and A spinning coaster is great but I think it's seabreeze that has a Mour spinner not far away.

DarienLakester
01-25-2012, 08:17 AM
^ Martin's Fantasy Island has Zamperla spinning wild mouse coaster as well, so Darien Lake needs a spinning coaster to show Seabreeze and Martin's Fantasy Island who has the best spinning coaster in New York state!

mrceagle
01-25-2012, 02:07 PM
With that list your looking at Gustlour or a Mack. But with a launch family coaster do they really need a spinner. add a medium end family coaster, use the money saved off of not getting a spinner towards a larger adult coaster.

DarienLakester
01-25-2012, 04:01 PM
I was talking about Darien Lake getting a mid-sized family spinning coaster, or Darien Lake could get a dark ride with boat like a "Tunnel of Love" or "Old Mill Scream"!

mrceagle
01-27-2012, 11:06 PM
I know what you were talking about. Which is why i mentioned the 2 companies that also make a spinning coaster though I personally would prefer to see something different than an attempt to compete with a similar coaster.

The dark ride would be truly unique. not many in the area.

I've only been on three dark rides Chaos (Opryland), Old Mill/Garfield's Nightmare (Kennywood), and Disaster Transport (Cedar Point), so I think Darien Lake could use a dark family ride in Galaxy Theathre!

Looks similar to the one before the resent change.

regarding dark rides i have been on many. I have been on all the dark rides at Disney world. Locally I have been on Mine of Lost souls (Canobie Lake Park), Ghost Hunt (Lake Compounce), Holly Humbug adventure (santa's village), teh 3 dark rides at Rye Playland (Zombie Castle, Old Mill, and Flying Witch), and the old version of Monster plantation (SFOG). I have also been on 2 now defunct Dark rides; Tornado at TGE and Journey to the Moon at Story land. in every case the dark rides were on the top of the rider lists.

Canobie admits that the mine and their flume are on the top of the ridership list.

All they did with it is just erased the coaster track atom and it looks like a Photoshop edit to me!

How about this as one their new family rides, a giant mountain with crawl tubes, slides, ball pits, a punching bag maze, a bounce room, and a zip line!

Ya if they are not going to rehab and install it they need to get some money for it while they can. maybe they can sell it off for a bit more cash.no mater what lets get some extra cash in to spend inside the park.
