So here's my scoop. I'm planning a trip for August 7th to August 10th. My coaster buddy and I are absolutely torn between our two options. This is where you guys come in. I'm going to get your input on this. Here are the facts. We both live in RI and have a strict time limit on the trip. It will last from the 7th at 6 p.m when we get in the car to drive until the 10th at night when we arrive back home at a reasonable time for work in the morning.
Trip option 1: Cedar Point
Being an 11 hour drive. We would drive half way there until stopping at a hotel for the night and then getting to cedar point about mid day on the Sunday. We would get about a day and a half in the park until we have to drive 11 hours back home on Tuesday. This park would be new to the both of us.
Trip option 2: Dorney Park, Hershey Park, & Knoebel's
This trip is simpler, but more complicated at the same time. It gives us about 2 and a half days in parks. We would have about a 7 hour drive to Dorney and have up to a full day there, then drive to Hershey, have about a full day there, and then spend the last day at Knoebel's for about 4 hours until we need to spend another 7 hour drive home. Knoebel's is a new park to both of us and Dorney is new to her, while Hershey is a park we have both completed except for a single credit, but loved while there.
We are absolutely torn between the amazingness that is Cedar Point, however the Penn. trip gives us more time in parks and much less driving. The kicker about the whole scenario is the fact that both trips will cost essentially the same between hotel, gas, and park tickets. Let's let the debate begin.
