2011/2012 - New Coaster - (6/1/10) The latest rumor sent in about Hersheypark claims that they may be looked at obtaining a new B&M coaster creation in the next two years. While nothing is set in stone yet, I’m told that the rumor going around is that the station may be placed in the Comet Hollow section of the park, which is also expected to see the Tilt-A-Whirl removed after this season. More when we find out.
What could this be.

Another B&M intertwined with Great Bear and Super Dooper Looper? Either Super Dooper Looper is on the way out, or this will get very interesting.

What?!? What am I going to do now?!? I might go to Hershey this year. Last time I went was before Storm Runner was built. This seems to happen to me all the time. I went to Cedar Point in 2004, the year Max Air opened. Last year for the log ride, 2006, Maverick opens. I go to Cedar Point again in 2009, 2010 Shoot the Rapids opens. In 2007 I went to King's Island and they re-opened SOB a week after I went.

That's pretty bad luck. I'm sure you still had fun at all those parks though.
Screamscape has reported that there is survey markers in Comet Hollow.

I highly doubt that SDL will be on its way out. Should be an interesting coaster design to fit in that area. I really wish I knew any more.

Wonder if they will have a design contest like last time.

What? They had a design contest for Fahrenheit? How did it work?

If they really fit another coaster in this area, it's really going to be a sight to see!

2011/2012 - New Coaster - (6/10/10) Lots of rumors are starting to swirl about the next big coaster in the works for Hersheypark… both good and bad. Starting with the bad news, one rumor claims that this could result in the end of the classic Sooper-Dooper Looper, though I really hope that one is wrong.
As always, there are tons of rumors claiming that the park’s next coaster will be a B&M at last again, despite the fact that they had been sticking with Intamin for the last few. If they do go with B&M, the ride could be either a Flyer or possibly even a Hypercoaster, but there is no telling what it may be if they go with Intamin. Certainly an Intamin Mega-Lite coaster would go over well in this area too, but it’s too early to tell.

While a mega-lite would be cool, I think what this park needs is a smooth, relaxing, floater air B&M flyer. Then in a few years, I'd like to see what Intamin craziness they can come up with, but Intamin craziness just isn't what Hershey needs right now.

I kind of agree, an Intamin just isn't what the park currently needs.

I would love to see a flyer closer to me!!! i still need to ride a B&M Flyer and floorless... i did not ride a B&M hyper until last year! (Diamondback) There is no B&M coasters in NY and there is only 1 Intamin ride in NY and its only a hyper nothing too crazy (well its a good ride but its not as crazy as modern Intamin's)

I have a very good source for Hershey Park. Of course I just realized I have access to this source.

Go to SFGAdv! You will have a flyer, a floorless, several other great B&Ms, and you can see the amazing rides Intamin can produce! After riding El Toro, you will never look at coasters the same way again.

Coming from, "Does standing 100 feet away Kingda Ka count as riding it?" LOL
Anyway, he's right. El Toro is just insane and one-of-a-kind.

I would have gotten closer, but they wouldn't let me. :( All I asked was for them to let me take my picture in the test seat...

Maybe you should ride it.......That sounds like a better idea.

From Screamscape:
2011/2012 - Attraction 2012 - (8/6/10) Pictures of new Survey markings have been posted to Keystone Thills this week. Stakes are starting to show up this week and I’m told that there is a local meeting at the township slated for August 19th where they will discuss a proposal from Hersheypark for something big enough to need a height limit waver for something bigger than 200 feet tall, but no taller than 350 ft. So far they’ve only identfyed it as ‘Attraction 2012”. This brings us to a unique hint Hersheypark dropped as well as on their Facebook page that said: “Youve seen Hershey from the Kissing Tower.....Youve Seen Hershey from Storm Runner.....now get ready to see Hershey from......” It seems in indicate that something tall is on the way for sure.

I was going to say it looks like Intamin but in the few coasters I looked up I didnt see a solid box support beam. They was boxy but had different markings. I'm interested in seeing just what this coaster is.

I305 was their first coaster with those boxy supports I believe.

I thought they looked vaguely familiar. I searched recent coasters by Intamin but only checked Cheetah and one from 2006. Has there been any discussion on what type of Intamin this will be?
From a quick glance at their site, it appears Giga coasters and LSM share similar supports. My bets on those. I did read on the project 2012 emails we keep getting that there might be a launch? So maybe it's an LSM
Screamscape reported that the ride might be named SKYRUSH
In addition to this, a strange new logo has appeared on a park water fountain for a company called O’CONNELL PLUMBING AND DRAIN. The website link for the company is here (http://www.ocplumbingdrain.com/). There is also some kind of voicemail you can access, with messages connecting O’CONNELL to RIT and LaMarcus Bros. You can watch a version of it with captioning on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8y9_v-7Pso).
(7/12/11) An eagle eyed reader has uncovered the likely name for Hersheypark’s new 2012 coaster this week, after a new filing was submitted to the Trademark database by Hershey Entertainment on July 5th for “SKYRUSH”. Of course, this could just be one of a few possible names in development… things are always subject to change between now and 2012, and ride names are no exception. (ahem… Cheetaka anyone?).
But until then… we’ve got a name… and SKYRUSH is it for now. Meanwhile, I haven’t had a chance to go through all my e-mail from the past week just yet, but apparently there are a ton of light blue coaster supports located just behind the Roller Soaker.
You can see some pictures on Screamscape (http://screamscape.com/html/hersheypark.htm#2012)...

It's very interesting seeing these Wing Rider coasters becoming a new trend.

Its not a Wing Rider. This is a Intamin Mega with B&M style trains.
If anything, this is a hybrid of a mega and a floorless at best. But the layout looks awesome I just wish they didnt try to claim the first Wing Rider when it clearly isnt one. But the GP wont know the difference so it works out in the end for them.

Yeah but the Wing Rider type was defined by coasters like Raptor and Furius Baco. Which is why I think that it can only be a Wing Rider if all the seats are extended out on the sides and no floor. Like Raptor and Baco.
nitrofan
08-03-2011, 10:40 PM
People were speculating on another site that the trains were intended to be full winged seats, but after seeing how bouncy the winged seats were on Baco, they modified the concept to reduce the bouncing on the outer seats.

Nitro, this is more of a staggered seating arrangement than a hanging arrangement.

Like I said, B&M Hyper trains on a Intamin Mega.. Because these trains look a hell of a lot similar to Diamondback's. Except the floor has been removed from under the seats on the furthest ends.
