Carowinds PTR 4/6/10

Started the day off in Greenville, Sc and worked my way up on a scorching hot day to Charlotte. Got their at about 10:30 and was moderately busy. Everything had a wait but none of them more than 45 minutes. There were some Surprisingly good rides and one not-so-lived-up-to-the-hype(r) coaster. Basically went around the park once counter-clockwise in this order:

Intimidator 8/10 : By far was the fastest roller coaster in the park and gave you the most weightlessness (only on the first 2 hills), but wasn't special in any way. I was expecting the turn-around to give me a lot of positive G's, but they just weren't there.

Vortex 5/10 : the Capacity for this ride must be one train an hour. about 30 people in line when got there but took 30 minutes to get on it. Besides that, it does what its supposed to: go up, loop you, then go back to the station. Better than Mantis but nowhere near Chang.

Carolina Cyclone 9.5/10 : I have to admit, I couldn't really think of anything about this ride except for its very weird pant job. Other than that, It was amazingly smooth for that old of a coaster. the must of refurbished this off-season because it was amazing.

Juke Box Junction - Had typical Fast Food type food. It took a LONG time for our food to be done, so in return, the gave us extra chicken fingers! It was good.

Carolina Cobra 9.5/10 : This was the biggest shocker of them all! I heard everybody bashing boomerangs but this was amazing! I know it was because of the new type of restraints on the train but, I think every park who has a boomerang should buy these trains. A stellar of a ride! It does a loading deficiency since it only has one train though.

Boo Blasters on Boo Hill 9/10 : Men in Black has this ride beat in a long shot, but, Boo Blasters was a lot better then I was expecting. 2 things would make it better; Change the name (Stop using the word "Boo" for everything about this ride) and Theme it to Scooby Doo!

Thunder Run 4/10 : I can sum this ride up in F.U.N. a F#@$ing Uncomfortably Nuisance. Besides the Turn-Around, I was being Jarred around the whole time.

AfterBurn 9/10 : A really good ride but lost it's "touch" after it got decommissioned as Top Gun. One of the Best B&M inverts though. Th batwing part by the park's second entrance is really unique and fun.

Nighthawk 9.9/10 : Wow! I Love this ride! The reason I gave of this point is because it could use a big orb thing inside the last curve before the corkscrews and it would be better if it changed it's name to Borg. One of my favorite rides ever. From my 75 or so Coasters, This makes my top 10. There is nothing unique about it from the other Vekoma Flying Coasters and this coaster isn't a record breaker (well, it was the first flying coaster back when it was at CGA) but it is just so fun!

Then I really wanted to ride Carolina Cobra again but it was just too hot, so I rode intimidator again.

I was there 2 days later, and the park was almost dead when I was there. I guess I picked a good day.

Which side did you ride on Thunder Road? The left side seemed to be smoother. I didn't think the ride was too rough though.

I rode the Right or Blue side, It just seemed to lift me up and slam me back down in my seat every 5 seconds.

The very beginning seemed the most rough, but it was very enjoyable for me after that.

What was your ride count? Mine was:

Woodstock Express: 1
Vortex: 1
Flying Ace Aerial Chase: 1
Woodstock Gliders (probably the third best ride at the park!): 1

The weather was bad when I went, so a lot of rides closed or ran at lowered capacity.

I only rode the rides that I gave ratings for except I rode Intimidator twice. We only stayed there for about 4 hours because we had to to Savannah, GA before 10 PM
