Reported from Screamscape:
2011 - New Screamin’ Eagle Trains - Rumor - (6/5/10) According to one source, Six Flags St. Louis may be considering switching out their old PTC trains on the Screamin’ Eagle in 2011 in favor of some refurbished versions of the old Gerstlauter trains that used to run on Twisted Twins at the former Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom park.

What do you think?

Timberliners, anyone?

Timberliners look like a good train, but not something I'd like to see on every wooden coaster out there. It's kind of like the "Texas Giant Treatment"; good on some coasters, but not all.

Well I was reading a thread on www.sfstl.net that is called 2011 rumors and here is a new post from today:

Well I work with a couple head officials at six flags st.louis, and i decided to join the site just so i could share the rumor i have been hearing. Apparently the 2011 addition is going to be a large scale project aimed at putting SFST back on the map with thrill-seekers, and hopefully gain a great deal of business in the process. At the time(which was in early july) I heard mostly talk of goliath,X2, or Nitro.

It has been confirmed that the new addition will be located in the area east of Tidal Wave, and will open a new section of the park for future additions. I have no idea whether Tidal Wave will remain or when construction will begin, but whatever is in store for 2011 it certainly appeares to be promising!

If this is true, it will be a great addition to the park, but until we find out more leave everything in this thread about the rumor..

Will SF StL finally get their hyper that was ripped away from them twice? I'm praying that they will. Raging Bull was designed for them, then Goliath at SFOG was also designed for them. They deserve it after a long time of waiting.

Is Tidal Wave near Mr. Freeze? I had heard that there were some markers spotted near the launch...

Tidal Wave is not buy Mr. Freeze, it at the northeast corner of the park and there is a big open field if you past the ride.

But I only give the rumor 10% of being true..

A few things are running through my head. Starflyer, Drop Tower, Hyper, Giga, Observation Tower. Now, they do have Superman: Tower of Power, which gives me the hint that the Drop Tower is gonna happen. The starflyer would almost be like copying CF's 2011. Giga, well, can't say much. But if it's true, I give full credit to calling it. I'm feeling a B&M Hyper. They have one B&M, and it's a clone (Batman: The Ride). I could see a B&M Hyper, with the newer trains like Intimidator and Diamondback

Everyone got a good view on the old seats too. I just think the new trains are a gimmick, if you want to sit next to someone you know, you can only sit in half the rows, there is lots of wasted space, and the longer trains run slower than the old trains.

Well, I really can't get into this. I'm used to the 1st generation trains of Nitro, and haven't been on the 2nd generation. I was just saying the 2nd generation because there isn't many B&M Hypers out there with 2nd generation. I know Raging Bull, Nitro, Goliath (SFOG & La Ronde), Apollo's Chariot, Silver Star, and Hollywood Dream: The Ride. There's 8 of them. There is only 3 2nd generation coasters; Intimidator, Behemoth, and Diamondback.

Yes they can afford one for reasons stated by others above, but I just want to point out that the ropes course was not a mainstream expansion. When something like a ropes course is just added, there's nothing wrong with that, especially when the park also got a coaster this year (no matter how small it is).

Changsucks
09-04-2010, 01:46 PM
But if it was something as big as a hyper, you would think it would be the first to be announced. Or maybe they are saving the best for last?

And then Screamscape posts this...

The latest odd rumor for Six Flags St. Louis claims that the 2011 attraction, while large indeed, will only be a temporary attraction for the 2011. Miss it, and you lose forever. Could this be true? I’d say it certainly is possible, especially given the limit amount of time the new management had to make all new plans for 2011. Besides, it’s not like a few Six Flags parks have only had rides added for a year or two before… I see to recall the Condor at SFMM only being there for just about a year or so.

...Which just makes things even more confusing. I really have no idea.

SFNE Expert
09-04-2010, 07:43 PM
Maybe it was the planned coaster for SFNE :P

I kid. My bets is its just a huge flat that has two parts. In 2012 it will be broken up into two parts and half goes east and half goes west. You know where they will end up.

But I'm 80% sure that its just a Starflyer from Funtime to piss of Cedar Fair. It is replacing the swings and the swings will go to GAdv.

I think the newer B&M hyper trains are awesome. They give so much more freedom and despite what people think they do give better airtime

The older trains are better in the back, but the newer ones are better in the front, most people don't realize that so when they ride in the back and it sucks then they think the whole train sucks

They are in debt. Shapiro had great ideas planned for 2011 I bet and they all had to be delayed. We all know new management was in a big scramble to find last minute plans for new stuff. They could just be leasing it for a year. We know its most likely replacing they're swings and the swings are going to GAdv. Then in 2012 a coaster is replacing Tidal Wave and the spot where the swings were is my bet.

^Its a mix of stuff. Mostly a collection of rumors. I really don't know how reliable it will be until its announced.

I'll break down that post:
-Management in a scramble, got that from Screamscape and I knew that anyways from SFNE and things SFStL were posting on Facebook

-Replacing the swings at GAdv, this ones a two parter on SFStL.net they're sources knew that when they were getting they're big Shapiro coaster that Tidal Wave and the swings would be gone. Coasterfusion reported that GAdv would be getting they're swings back. Perfect fit.

So like I said, most stuff is rumors and just a little bit I know for fact. But none of this stuff I know for a fact. When I say know for a fact I mean it, lol.

Most of the SFNE stuff is true. Its coming from what management has said at different events at the park.

SFNE Expert

Theory:

They have a one year lease from Funtime. It is replacing the swings. Although the rep on Facebook says it is permanent, you can't take they're words. When they return it. They demolish Tidal Wave next year and build a coaster with the money it brought it.

GAm, St Louis, SFNE, and SFA all get the same coaster, but mirrored versions in 2012 in their shoot-the-chute spot.

DarienLake:D

See when FunTime talked about the wind limit you have to wonder if they were talking about the speed of the wind on the ground or in the air.. Because basically the wind speed is higher as you go higher. So yeah basically any kind of wind will shut it down by the sounds of it..

David

IMO, Six Flags should of also purchase more of this type of ride and gave it to parks like; The Great Escape and Six Flags America.

I agree. This ride would be perfect for both of those parks.

The park confirmed it themselves. I think it's pretty clear they want to keep that. And it fits in perfectly at the park. Definitely a Shapiro addition.

I've said it once, and I've said it before. The reps have to say what the GP want to hear.

As for it being a Shapiro addition. Thats about the stupidest thing I've ever heard you say. I thought its been clear that Shapiro was adding a coaster to every park.

Speculation but I know I'm right:

When Weber came in he canceled all the big ones right away. Then he got replacements for the ones he canceled. Water park expansion for GAm, Green Lantern, ect, ect. Some things he didn't get replacements for. Then he canceled everything else and the month of August was a scramble and some of late July probably. If you go back on the SF StL FB page they say they're still working out details with the company, in August they were posting that. So no, not a Shapiro addition. Texas Giant, DDD, Green Lantern but @ GAdv, and Superman Renovation are the only standing ones.

It never turns out good when they have to scramble to do that... So the rides they just announced (besides green lantern) Will probably look like they just set it down there...

The colors change as it goes up the tower, in an effort to use all the left over paint the parks have.

Maybe Gadv was getting that giga ;)

But how do you know he was giving coasters all around? What kinds would they have been? THBS? or Major thrill coasters?

It was gigas for all!

Shapiro was working closely with Intamin and B&M to satisfy the young and old, I heard somepretty fricken amazing stuff about SFGAm's Green Lantern.

Hey SFGam, you can have green lantern back, we'll just a giga :)

David

Actually, YOU personally didn't want a Giga, Shapiro took all your complaining of "we don't want a coaster, we want FLATS!" to mean that he could fill in the park with flats rather than spending tens of millions on a Giga. So, you screwed yourself! :P

But with Weber in, you probably weren't getting it anyways.

alot of people I knew wanted a coaster, but in a war on lines type scenario(incase you don't know what that is, SF added 3 new coasters, a plethora of flats and a huge kiddie section to Gadv in '99)

But to get back on topic, are they actually going to stick that awful six flags logo on the top?

Nope, the globe will be on top. Since it's going to be the tallest attraction at the park, it makes perfect sense..

This was never really discussed for some reason, but Sky Screamer at SFStL opened a few weeks ago! I think it looks pretty good, and it's a perfect addition for this park.
