Well they've been hinting at a proslide rocket in their facebook posts but this seals it.

http://holidayworld.com/node/2907

Go to the last picture and find the proslide logo. Kinda inconspicuous.

While we wont know for sure what it is, They will tell us thursday.

I just checked out all the information on their website, and this thing looks amazing!

Here is the ride's description taken from the park's website:
Can you tame the Wildebeest? He’s a fast-moving rascal! Wildebeest is the World’s Longest Water Coaster, opening in May at Splashin' Safari. When we say Wildebeest is long, we really mean it. Wildebeest is one-third of a mile long and it will thrill riders for two-and-a-half splashing minutes of hills, drops, twists and turns.

Located to the north of Bahari wave pool, Wildebeest will begin with a conveyor ride up the water coaster’s lifthill. Following the four-story drop at a 45-degree angle, linear induction motors (LIMs) will propel the four-person rafts up seven additional hills, through three tunnels (two of them underground) and around a helix. Wildebeest will cover more than two acres; its top speed will hit 36 feet per second. Wildebeest’s tallest elevation is 64 feet higher than its lowest drop; the conveyor-style lifthill replaces any slide-tower stairs, making the water coaster accessible to riders who might have difficulty walking up stairs.

Geek Out with Will:
“The linear induction motor technology for shooting the rafts up the hills is fascinating,” says park president Will Koch, who earned an electrical engineering degree at Notre Dame. “An alternating magnetic field beneath the slide surface propels the rafts, pushing them rapidly and smoothly uphill. LIM technology is a popular feature in some steel roller coasters; it’s cool to see it applied to water coasters, too.”

Concept Art (this is what hooked me):
http://www.holidayworld.com/images/wildebeest_aerial.jpg

Ride Stats:
Type: HydroMagnetic Rocket
Height: 64 feet
Length: 1/3 mile (1,710 feet)
Highest Drop: 38 feet at 45-degree angle
Drops: 7 drops, totaling 178 feet
Linear Induction Motors: 8
Top Speed: 36 feet/second
Average Speed: 20 feet/second
Tunnels: 3 (2 underground)
Ride Time: 2 minutes, 30 seconds
World Record: World’s Longest Water Coaster
Rafts: Four-person toboggan-style with seatbacks
Theme: Wildebeest is a swift-moving safari animal
Designer: ProSlide Technology Inc., Ontario, Canada.

Wow, all these announcements in a few days, 2010 is going to be an awesome year!

So it's not an actual coaster, right?
Just a waterslide?

^They just added Pilgrim's Plunge to thanksgiving last year. So it's not an actual coaster, right? Just a waterslide?

That would be correct.

Yea but it sucks. You barely get wet. It really was a addition to the waterpark.

Ok, I fell stupid now. I have been calling it Wild Beest when it is really called Wildebeest. I'm changing the topic title now. lol

Does the Wildebeest construction cam ever work? Every time I go to it, it a.doesn't show up and b.freezes up the computer.

As an aside, I really enjoyed Pilgrim's Plunge. Look forward to riding it again some day.

I haven't seen it yet, but it may be turned off because construction more than likely hasn't gotten very far yet.

That's exactly what I was thinking. That guy works for ProSlide, and that's what happens. At least they are working out the kinks early though.

Here is the full-curcuit testing of Wildebeest. Lots of airtime..

Something up with all the videos on here from Youtube..

I think I might need to re-code the bb code for youtube tags.

Figured it out. I enabled HTML coding to all forums this week. The code from youtube is in HTML form and when the BB code tag is put on it thinks theres two (1 HTML and one with the tags)

Airtimes nice, but it's with no one on. With people, maybe the airtime won't change.

Austin
04-13-2010, 11:15 PM
It will still have airtime but very very minimal airtime. Deluge had a nice little bit of airtime on the first drop, but it was a steep drop and the rest had slight bits of airtime. Wildebeest has a curved first drop so thats going to take off a bit of your speed and then adding in the weight of people there will be around 70-75% reduction in airtime (just an estimation) Those rafts weigh possibly 15 lbs or even 20 and it can hold 3 people, just a guess here, the average person weighs 150 (recommended weight) so multiply by 3 and add the raft weight and its seriously weighed down.

'Twas two nights before opening...

...and all through the park...

Not a staffer'd gone home...

...even though it was dark.

Will Koch in his jacket ... and Pat in her hoodie ...

Knew a treat would arrive soon for the world's favorite woodie...

When what through the darkened skies, in the rain ... there's a bright shiny new Timberliner Train!

(Actually, I've been holding this photo back for a while, to post when I knew the first train was en route. This is a seat made for the new trains.)

Wildebeest looks pretty sick, especially gathering that it's a water slide.

The Timberliners look nice. I hope it makes the ride much better than it was (even though the ride is considered amazing already)

Holiday World never fails to amaze me.

Austin

Maybe the timberliners will save SOB? It would be interesting to attach a force sensor to one and another on the current trains on SOB and see how much of a difference the Timber has. I'm sure it could potentially drop froces in the rose bowl by maybe 20-35% or even up to 45% but id say im pushing it there. Even with that reduction it might be decent coaster.
