Alright as promised yesterday i want everyone to help decide the future theme of the site.
This is the first poll out of a few of them but is one of the two most important ones.
The options right now are:
General Theme Park Fansite
Holiday World Fansite
Kings island
Cedar Fair
Other
I eliminated a few because they were just too small and I dont know very much about them or they were Six Flags. One thing i want everyone to keep in mind before voting is that Holiday world doesnt necessarily welcome fansites.
Personally we could do the best I believe with Kings Island but Holiday World could be a good route but the only problem is we face getting shut down by the owners of the park.

I dont want to lose members though. I love how far we came but Six Flags kinda ruined that. Personally I know we can do alot better this time around.

To be honest, here on the site, we have plenty of PTR's, rumors, etc, of other theme parks. I'm not saying that SFKK isn't the number 1 topic, but i'm saying that if we have a general site, we'll end up with more of a head start. We already have a 2010 confirmed list, and even a 2011 list. We have a bunch of rumors and thoughts on parks and rides all over the country. My pick's general theme park.
I rather you not do a KI fan page because there is like at least 3 of them already!! I say do a general theme park page or do a Beach Bend fan site, and get some updates from the water park expansion.

Well whatever we do im moving the entire forums, post and all to the new site.
Actually theres only 2 KI sites but one of them is dead.

I saw general theme park site. Holiday World is a good idea, but if the management won't like it, I don't think we should even try it.
Kind of building on what Palmer said, it seems like we have quite a few key members that aren't local to SFKK. Jp has SFFT, I have FMP, Carowinds, and SFOG, Palmer has SFGAdv, Bobbinbop has SFGAm and pretty much any other park he wisher to go to. That's just a few. I think this is a great SFKK fansite and we do have a lot of members with SFKK as their home park, but we also have a great start to being a general coaster site and we could really start to do well this summer if everyone contributed from their region.
In the end though, it's Austin's decision. You should do whatever you want with the site.

True. Voting will end today at 10 PM so cast your votes. At this point in time it looks as if general theme park is where a majority of us want to end up at. Tomorrow im going to start asking for possible names. After that then we will need a concept logo so we know what to make and etc.

I voted for other. Because general theme park is just TOO vague. I think it should be a defined area or park. Maybe just the Kentucky area HW, KI, BB.
You should make it for whatever park i end up at!! lol Seriously though.. i think Beech Bend is the answer.. it's local and independant. It reminds me a lot like when KK was small and indy.
Plus they also do ACE events so if you got in good with Mr. Jones that could be some good advertising!

As you can see by my post count, I rarely post. I do, however read most everyday and I vote for a General Theme Park site. I do like the idea of putting an emphasis on the theme parks around the KY area.

Guess its time to start working on a name then.

Are you going to have everybody vote on the new name too?
Well dont change it until the summer cause you never know somebody could buy Kentucky Kingdom anytime. The thing is you got to change the name of the site no matter what cause six flags is gone for sure. It seems Six Flags is taking parks big rides and giving them to other parks and closing the park down that they took the ride from.
Are you going to have everybody vote on the new name too?
I think so..

Nitrofan brings up good points. A lot of us aren't close to SFKK (or the area) so General Theme Park Site might be a good idea. I did vote for Holiday World but it looks like that won't work now. I never really understood sites with an area in mind, like Midwest, East Coast, West Coast, etc. but it's your choice. If you do decide to go with Kings Island/Holiday World/Beech Bend, I don't know what a good name would be, but maybe you could do a KentuckyCoasters with it being a Beech Bend site/SFKK History site.
I think it should be about Kentucky Kingdom no matter what, But IDK.

I like the idea about the kentucky area with MINOR details about the general aspect of other parks

I think if we stayed a SFKK Fansite, the site would do well probably through the summer, but would just die eventually. I'm sure we will still jave an emphasis on SFKK no matter what we decide.

Thats what im worried about. I want to get a early start with this and get done hopefully to a presentable state within a week of most park openings or a week over. It took me about 4 months to get us to where we are now and im going to carry that over to the new version so all we will have to do is graphics and other minor changes.

With you seeming to have decided to put an emphasis on KY Area Parks, you should name the site Tri-State Theme Park Fans since the major area parks are in KY, IN, and OH. Or we could replace the Tri-State part with a play on words consisting of the three states names.

Or if we did Beech Bend/SFKK History, Kentucky Fried Coasters :p
IMO we should either focus on one park (in this case either Beech Bend, Holiday World or Kings Island), one entire area (ALL of the Midwest, one little area in the midwest makes it too confusing) or an entire thing (general theme park site). What's the point of doing Beech Bend, Holiday World and Kings Island? You go on the site and see a seperate section for each one and then a seperate section for the rest of the coasters in the world. If that didn't make any sense, basically I think if you're going for one fansite and three parks, might as well make it a general theme park site to avoid confusion.

Lol i just posted the naming contest. I hope we get some good ideas out of it. Also notice the close to my thread ;) that change is effective immediately
What would be the name of this site if Compagnie des Alpes buys Kentucky Kingdom?

Nothing yet. We are planning on moving past the park and to a more broader focus.
While I might return to the park it will not host a forum at first at least. It will be just a custom coded html pages. Nothing like what we have now.

Just a though, Try to never name this site KKonline.com. That is just one "K" away from being something illegal, plus it doesn't sound right.

We wont if we ever do return with a second site for the park. It would be called Kentucky Kingdom Online but thats if the park stays KK.

Technically, the KKK is legal as long as they aren't starting trouble. They only turn illegal if they break the law.
History class win.
No matter what the site turns to, I'll still be posting occasionally

After discussing a little more with staff we are moving forward now and will be discussing details on the plan friday with the other site. Once discussions between the site are finished I will post the details and then begin moving ahead with the plan.
