Time to get back to work with A&S :)
First things first, "rehab" coasters and then re-record them to show the drastic improvements on some, specifically Moonshine Express.
What kind of coaster should I build next?

Wow, that coaster looks awesome! One reccomendation I have is to make the gravestones a little more random. Your grave yard looks too organized.
Are you just building individual coasters or a whole theme park?
Austin
04-19-2010, 05:36 PM
Right now, individual coasters, but we (me and one of the co-owners of SFATW) was planning on making a full park with our coasters. We actually started the company A&S(Austin & Scott) to design under but then SFKK closed and took away my time from building and now it looks like I could begin around middle of May and all the way through June and pause for my vacation in July and finish when I get back.
Austin

The video is uploading to youtube so you should have a video out by tonight or tomorrow.
After this one ride creation will be stopped on my end to re-record the coasters to reflect the improvements to the rides. One coaster to look for on the re-records is Moonshine Express. It had giant sections of track removed and re-done and is 100x smoother and less jerky.
Video has been added and all the videos were re-centered
Austin
04-20-2010, 10:25 PM
I have added the POV of Hell: The Adventure. I also closed the main park that contains, Boulder Dash, Moonshine Express, Predator, Blast Off! and Soul Crusher while they undergo a 1.5B conversion from a production facility to the official A&S theme park. Details will be announced later.

Thats all for now. New video coming tomorrow. When you compare the new video to the old video your going to be amazed at how big a difference there is. Especially the pre-launch, launch zone, and brake run.
Austin

Blast Off! just went under some new improvements and the entire ride submerses you into the theme of the ride before you even get on the ride. A building has been built the length of the entrance and exit stations and down the entire queue line that makes you feel like you really are about to board a rocket and be transported directly into space.
Video is also complete:
<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-G_QZv5XYCs&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-G_QZv5XYCs&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
I believe in a future update that I will expand the building off the station to wrap around and connect in with the brake run section to help the ride keep a constant flow. Also when you watch that video compare to the old Blast Off! in the first post. The launch is much much smoother now that its spaced out like this *---*---* *=launch - = track. Each launch brings you up 10-20 mph than the last launch.

Practically all of Nasa's Adventure Center is complete. Blast Off! has received two major improvements. The first, when you are released through the "Black hole" and end up in space the cieiling is now the space/stars. It took me about a hour to do because the walkway had to be raised higher, the walls raised and the metal outside roof raised but its now complete there. The second comes at the end after the brake run. The short turn to the station has now become a Star Speeder Maintenance bay.
For those who have rode Star Tours at DLR or WDW know what im talking about. Those who dont, a star speeder is your ride vehicle at the parks where you get in and tour the galaxy. In our case the train is a "star speeder" and you are touring the galaxy, mainly the planet Earth and its atmosphere.
An additional minor addition was a covered walk outside of the exit which I might expand to cover the walk way and ending it at the bottom of the walk way to help make the ride stand out int he area.
Nasa's Adventure Center will be completed once I build the large shopping center and food court as well as placing benches and trash cans through out the area.
As a side note: Predator is back up and running. The main changes to it were the colors. Nothing major really.

I'm back haha. I'm planning a truly themed coaster for my return. It's the final attack on the death star. I finished building the design already. It's not my greatest design but I'm hoping the level of detail makes up for it. Its basically going to be a gigantic building using Star Wars walls as the exterior and on the inside will be little "rooms" Room 1 is the station/launch, Room 2 is the arrival through space, Room 3 the attack scene, Room 4 return from the attack Room 5 arrival back at base.
So far Ive got walls up around Room 1 and I hope to have that room finished tonight. Once its finished the rest of the "rooms" will take a bit of time since its a pretty big building and there has to be space to place the thematic elements and the walk way tunnels to get to and from the ride (they run just inside the building between rooms 1 and 5).
I'm pretty confident I can pull it off.
Thats great your getting back into to this!
Austin
01-28-2011, 09:30 AM
Thanks. I just finished Room 1 last night. Got frustrated adding the launch tunnel so I stopped for the night. Brake run got final adjustments so it does actually brake you slowly as you arrive from deep space. All I need to find to really finish is custom scenery containing the Death Star. Not sure how I will make the "enlarged" version of the Death Star (when your going into the attack role aka the trench). It looks better in my mind than what the final product will be. But I can see a pretty nice little "concept art" in my head as I look at it.
I'm also planning to go back and re-record all the coasters from A&S Theme Park to show their final re-visions. Some even got entirely new sections of track like Moonshine Express (It was greatly improved) Some even have new thematic elements like walkways and tunnels.
Austin
01-28-2011, 06:03 PM
Woo! Big progress on the construction. Half the walls have gone up around the walkways to the exit and station and the thematic elements have been added inside the walls (walkways). The major elements of the return trip through room 4/5 have been added to estimate where to place the outerwalls of the main show building. So that means the entire construction of the rest of it wont take too much longer if I keep going. Also the station walls have been re-adjusted to block out light from the outside (outside of the walls will be space and stars etc) and the launch and return tunnels have gotten their thematic elements and color to make it seem like your really launching to space and returning to earth from deep space.
Austin
01-28-2011, 10:55 PM
Just finished for the night probably. The walkway is boxed in. It also got its interior "space" treatment to hide the building from the ride. Overall its looking pretty good right now. Not a fan of the long tedious work it takes to build things like this though

The entire addition to the building has been completed which means 3 of the 5 or 6 rooms have been completed. This section has a few close calls with X-Wings as you fly past them. I got like 10 or 15 pictures of everything including on ride pictures.
In addition the section just after the launch has been re-designed and the section leading up to the end has been re-done and has an inversion now. Might re-work the launch to make it a smoother launch out to space.

The main portion of the ride in the older section. Notice how close the X-Wing on the right is. You pass just barely under 2 on this part.
Today I will be working a bit on the exterior and laying the ground work for the next section to get finished.
Austin
02-14-2011, 12:42 AM
Ive started work on the last section of the ride. Its gigantic in terms of scale.
I should have the entire ride enclosed by weeks end, and the entire exterior walled up. Roofing it with the same type of exterior wall material will take too long and will be really hard to pull off so its canceled. Wall might extend over the edge of the roof or a roof tile on the sides to make it look like its roofed.
Austin
03-01-2011, 09:04 PM
Returning from a mini-break, most of the remaining section is filled up with the basic things it needs to be completed. I'm aiming for around another few good hours of work to wrap up the interior and theme work. And about 2 hours working to add the exterior skin. Pretty much the ride is just about done!
Austin
03-02-2011, 06:52 PM
The ride itself is done. Cosmetically on the exterior if your playing, it isn't done. I have a video to upload though ;)

I think it is some of the best work that I've done. Some footers just didnt go perfectly but I got them the best I could. And before anyone says anything I realize the wall sort of blocks the track. I fixed that once I noticed it after the recording. Also first use of clear support killer, instead of the kind that leaves a shadow (steelworx)
He wanted a coaster to be themed to Riddler and this is about as close as I could get. It is a floor less coaster.
David
04-21-2011, 12:34 AM
Looks like some major improvements!
I think that that area with the stretch of flat track, and the in-line flip, should be a Zero-G roll. That seems much more fitting, along with the removal of that random roll. lol
Overall good! And I do suggest you try to use more of Moby's Steel Jungle, and Dazmatze's Utilities for the footers.
Nice Work, Austin!
Austin
04-21-2011, 04:06 PM
Thanks haha. I used Cprisco's B&M footers. He had a few sets to add to it but I just got one or two of them. The ones I had problems with were the supports that were at an angle with the ground.
The station could have been a bit better but I didn't know what all I could do to fit it in that spot lol.
There was some inspiration with this one btw. The lift and loop were from Chang. The cobra roll after the loop from Hulk.

I'm making another coaster or two since I need a vacation from some things. I'm interested to get back into woodies. I'm wanting to do a classic coaster style with a little bit of a modern woodie feel.
