Just wondering if anyone rode it before its accident? How was it and how did it compare to other Intamin Drop Towers?

I'm a huge Drop Tower fan so I'm really disappointed that I missed it.

I would expect that it would be sorta the same. Im going to be uploading a new video to the youtube channel of it once i get the sound fixed. I personally never rode it, i just absolutely hate being up that high with nothing under my feet.

Some can be, but I've noticed some differences. For example, while Drop Tower at Kings Island is a lot taller than Drop Tower at California's Great America, I found CGA's to have a more powerful and intense drop.

I never rode Superman Tower of Power at SFKK, but I rode S:TOP at Six Flags St. Louis, which is basically the same ride. It is a lot of fun, but I much prefer the S&S Drop Towers and some of the newer Intamin Drop Tower models. I just don't find the Intamins to be worth the wait for a single drop. I could ride an S&S Drop Tower all day long though!

To be honest, the Helavator was the king of them all. The ride may have not been that tall, But in my opinion it drops faster then the other parks. Kings island drop zone maybe High but it stops you when your like at the middle part of the ride. On the Helavator, it stop you just a about 20 feet from the bottom.

^Agreed. The intense was much more intense, gripping, and unexpected than any other post-1st Gen Freefall I have ridden. Especially compared to S&S towers.

In fact, IIRC, the drop almost matched those found on the earliest of Freefalls...and that is saying a LOT! Losing STOP was almost as hard as losing Chang, for me.

Was anyone actually there on the day of the accident?

I'm sure there were other people at the park when the accident happened...

I remember that day. Me and my mom were picking my sister up from work at the park. Everytime me and my mom waited for her out in the parking lot, I always just liked to look around at the parks skyline. When I had gotten a chance to notice the Hellavator, I had notice that the retainers where not coming towards the ground (this was just 30 mins after the accident). So as we waited, I've notice ambulances rolling through the fairgrounds gates. When my sister finally made it into the car, she told me that something odd was going on today and that everyone was crying in the park and some employees.

When I finally got home my neighbor had called and told me that their was an accident at the park and etc.

When i heard about this event, i also puked. That is one reason why I'm not a fan of drop towers. I have that fear that my legs would get chopped off after droping. I can't even imagine what that could have looked like, or felt like.
