3/29 Wet n' Wild
We checked out of our hotel for our final day of our Orlando trip. It was 60 degrees, and pouring down rain. I wasn't convinced that they would open, but your input doesn't matter when you're on a 90 person trip. We arrived at Wet n' Wild, and I counted 27 cars in the parking lot! We quickly rented a locker ($10) and ran straight for Bomb Bay. I was the only person in my group who would ride it, and I have claims of being 1 of 3 people on my trip to ride it all day! This is the creepiest slide I have ever been on! You step into this chamber shaped as a rocket, and you can't hear anything but the creepy music they have playing. You can see out the glass window in the front, but you can't see the life guard who pushes the button to drop the floor. I really don't remember much of the ride. By the time you get over the initial shock of the drop, the slide is over. We later found out that there is a camera in the chamber, and your facial expression is showed on a plasma screen at the bottom. I wasn't too happy about this, but everyone else loved it.
After that, we got so many rides on everything that I really don't remember the order, so I'll just write my take on all the slides in no particular order. One comment I have on this park is their "Flash Pass" system. It wasn't nescecary the day we went as 3 tubes was the longest line we waited in, but they actually had a $100 express pass that you could buy. I have never seen that at a water park nor have I seen switchbacks, so this place must really crank in the crowds, and probably isn't a place you want to be during high season.
Brain Wash
This is your standard ProSlide Tornado, but the funnel is completely enclosed and a few more twists are added. You start this ride after a long walk with your tube, which really isn't worth the trouble of carrying the tube when you're my size. It is completely dark, and then strips of multi-colored lights suddenly illuminate the tunnel. You then go down the drop, and enter the funnel. At the spot that is usually an opening, it has a giant screen with the Wet n' Wild logo spinning, and loud audio convincing you to spend your money there is played. I thought the theming is pretty cheesy, but the Tornado is always fun.
Disco H2O
This slide is a ProSlide Bowl, but the bowl on this one has lots of disco lights and music. All effects were on the first time, but were off the rest of the day. It was still fun, but the effects made most of the fun for this slide.
The Surge
This slide shared a tower with the Disco. It was all open with 4 person tubes. It was pretty fun, but not the most thrilling in the world.
Black Hole
This slide has 2 person tubes that you carry to the station that is enclosed inside a giant UFO. It is completely dark except for space ship type theming and black lights. When the slide began, it was completely dark, but then effects started like strips of light moving backwards creating the illusion of greater speed and many smaller dot lights creating the illusion of floating in the middle of space. A lot of people in my group didn't like this slide, but I thought it was one of the best there.
Mach 5
This slide is your standard racing mat slide, but it has twists instead of straight, side-by-side track. I didn't really like this slide because the mats are uncomfortable to me, and if you are as small as me, you don't move very fast.
Flyer
This slide had 4 person in-line rafts. It was a concrete slide built on a hill. I thought it went way too slow, and most people agreed that it was pretty boring.
Blast
Like Flyer, this slide was also concrete on a hill, but it was steeper and had lots of water effects. It has one or 2 person tubes, and I thought it was fun seeing who went backwards and who got hit with the water sprayers, like a raft ride at theme parks.
Bubba Hubba
This is a standard family raft slide, but it was 3 major drops all in a row. It is short, but very under-rated. It gave lots of air-time on the drops. I could only wish it would last longer.
Storm
This was a body slide where you went down a steep drop, and then into a bowl, before falling out a hole in the center into a 7 foot deep pool of water. The bowl had lots of mist and waterfalls on the side. It was very disorienting, and it took me a while to find the exit the first time. I originally thought this slide hurt, but it got better as I learned the best way to ride it.
Overall, this was a great trip. It exceeded my expectations by a huge amount! The staff was very friendly, and dispatch times were great at all parks but Sea World.
