I know this topic has been brought up before and been criticized, but it could be a good event and a real hit with the families. Here is my idea:

-Play Christmas show in Thrill Park Theater
-Have a Santa's Workshop Area
-Lots of Lights and Decorations
-Operate any ride that is able to run in the temperature
-Sell Hot Chololate and other holiday favorites in resteraunts
-Have a christmas tree trail
-Have a sledding hill and snow play area
-Smores Roasting
-Giant Christmas Tree and lighting ceremony
-Christmas Light Show (I do it in my front yard, and it could be awesome with a corporate budget, but probably only a few thousand dollars).

They could be open friday nights, saturday afternoons and evenings, and sunday afternoons from thanksgiving to christmas. Do a midnight party on New Years Eve like at SFMM and be open for the last time on New Years Day. They could even do a polar plunge if they wanted to in the water park.

I would assume that no coasters would be available, so they could just use the front half of the park and it wouldn't take to many employees.

My plan sounds like a lot of fun for a family evening outing, which is the group Shapiro wants to attract. If it was priced right, that sounds like a good list of things for people to do, and they could even add more.

What do you guys think?

Sounds fun but polar plunge wouldnt happen. The city of louisville has a polar plunge in the ohio river which is free i think so that wouldnt happen. Overall it sounds like a nice plan though.

Well maybe they could say you get a coupon for free admission sometime in 2010 if you participate and charge $5 a person for family to come and watch. They would need additional events that day though to attract people.

Yeah. But snow and other stuff would be a problem though. Plus getting all the money to decorate. I mean it could happen but not for at least another 2-4 years when six flags gets the ability to spend more money on stuff like this at all of its parks.

If they can do it at 2 parks in Texas and 1 in California, I'm sure they could do it in Kentucky for cheaper with the cooler temperatures because they wouldn't have to replace it as often. Decorations probably wouldn't cost more than $5-10,000.

HIP probably won't happen, but it's a thought.

Yeah but i think they have more important needs though in their chain. It would get alot of money since the only thing like that is light up louisville. If this was to happen i think it would happen around 2014 or 2015.

There's really not enough landscaping/foliage in the park to really create a "winter wonderland" atmosphere...

Oh yeah, and there are no hills in the park. So I guess sledding would be out. ;)

They could always just build a platform for sledding like at SFFT:

Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom is greatly understaffed in the summer and being that half of those workers in the summer are teenagers which will be in school during the winter this event would have little staff...I don't see it happening.

True. I completely forgot about that. But they could do it during the JCPS winter break. This year it was from 12/18 to 1/6 so maybe squeeze a few in here and there. But for that short of a time it wouldnt make much sense.

Yeah, 3 is fine for running coasters, but from what I've seen they only use 2. Well except at Chang they had 4, but Chang is gone :(
