It looks pretty amazing, it allows you to choose your own music to play, such as KC and the sunshine band.

Some of the new innovative coaster track elements
http://www.screamscape.com/assets/images/2009_0529_ART1_VertLift.jpg The Lift hill will raise you up the 17 story tall hill at 11 feet per second, or in just 16.5 seconds total.
http://www.screamscape.com/assets/images/2009_0529_ART2_DoubleTake.jpg The worlds largest. This is the center piece.
http://www.screamscape.com/assets/images/2009_0529_ART2_TrebleClef.jpg After the first brake run the trains will pass through the treble clef, another first ever maneuver, named so because the way the track twists around here looks similar to that of the treble clef music symbol and then part of the track will blast you through a hole in one of the building facades just outside the queue for Twister at this point.
Jump Cut: The idea here was to create a negative-G airtime maneuver like a camelback, but to do it all while spiraling. The end result is supposed to be an element that gives you the sensation as if you are flipping upside-down through a corkscrew, but without ever going upside down.
Other unique track elements
Crowd Surfer, a 95º angle fly-over the crowd
Drop Turning, a drop underground as you pass the Blue Man Group theater
Plot Twist, an incline loop, banking you up to 150º while performing a 360 helix turn.
Other Features
They’re going to pack an intense audio system, a complicated camera system to capture your experience on the ride, plus lots of cool lighting to the coaster to really make it a wild new experience.

And to keep adding to the sneak peek you guys will love this:
The Train
http://www.screamscape.com/assets/images/db_images/db_2009_HollywoodRockitTrain_6003.jpg
And yes, it only has a lap bar to hold you in :D, int he part of the lap bar that juts out, is the control panel to select your on-ride music(more on that later) In front of you are cameras to record your experience.(more on that later also). Since this is a Florida Theme park, the devices in the system have been made to military standards for durability and weatherproofing.
Audio System
It’s a wireless system, so that once you make your selection, your track will be wirelessly uploaded into your stunt chair that is loaded with a 165-watt sound system, blasting your song at up to 90 decibels, and yet they promise you will never hear the song playing from the other riders nearby.
Video Capturing System
This system is made up of 14 different cameras. Six of those cameras will be installed onto your coaster train (1 per row) to capture your screaming mug shot during the ride itself, while 8 more cameras are hard-mounted along the ride’s route to capture the highlights. These aren’t cheap little security camera units or web-cams, but production quality cameras designed for use under intense conditions, normally used on high-speed trains. Overseeing it all is a system of laser triggers that will time everything together to ensure that your music and video are always in sync.
At the end of your ride, each riders experience will be wirelessly downloaded to a kiosk system in just 25 seconds. Here you can check out, edit and purchase your own personalized Rockit experience video.
Lighting System
They’re are the only coaster trains to be covered with daylight LED color-changing lights. Each vehicle has 36 different lights that can stay solid, strobe, twinkle, race or pulse. Universal has also confirmed that the Rockit will feature the only “moving roller coaster load platform” that will use a people-mover conveyor belt system(like haunted mansion) in the station so that the trains (and guests) will never stop moving during the unload/load process. This will allow for a train to dispatch every 23 seconds at maximum capacity. It’s during this slow crawl through the station that the on-board systems (audio, video and lighting) will also receive a quick battery charge.
Testing
Currently the long testing process has begun as we’ve heard that the park needs to log about 100 hours of operation time on each of the trains before they can put human riders to the test. Of course early word has also gone out to the Universal Orlando staff to prepare themselves, as full scale human testing on the employees will begin as soon as they are able.
And I'll leave you with this:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/V-zqbmn9GA4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/V-zqbmn9GA4&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
At 2:45 it shows the cars at night with the lighting.

I found out what the problem is, and it sounds simple to fix.
Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit - (7/31/09) The latest word on the Rockit delays is that the issues may have been some simple programming issues that needed to be taken care of for the ride computer to keep track of all the trains at once. A fix is in the works I’ve been told and if no more issues arise over the next few days during testing, it could open sooner than expected. Speaking of testing, the construction walls near the back end of the coaster have come down and a new video has been posted showing off what a night ride and all those twinkley lights look like from that end.

Have we waited this long for a simple programming issues? This is dissappointing!
There were lots of problems that created a chain.
Were you aware that the supports didn't line up when they built it? Were you aware that the lift track was sent to Universal before the anti-rollbacks were put on it? The list continues...
Austin

The anti-rollbacks were a easy install never the less. Just take the track off and install them and 4 days later they was back up and running.
This sounds like a easy fix.

In my personal opinion, it's a pretty neat idea, choosing your own music, being filmed the entire ride. However, they made up coaster elements to avoid going upside down...that in my case is LAME!

So, i'm guessing an non inverting top-hat is lame. Even a Hammerhead turn being lame. That element must me sick

For anyone who hasn't heard, Rockit soft-opened today! It is 4 months late, but it finally happened. The ride opened around 6:00 PM, and had got a 3-4 hour line in the first hour, and the line was closed for the day shortly after. Park representatives have said they have no idea when we will see it soft-open again, but we are close to a real opening!

Well it has been a few weeks since this ride soft-opened, and it is still in the soft-opening stage, which means it is still in the testing stages, may not be at full operation, and is subject to being closed at any time.
Consistent reports have been sent out of 3-4 hour lines and only 4/7 trains being used at peak hours, and 1/7 trains being used at opening. There have also been reports of painfully rough rides on this.
Sounds like one big disaster.

This is it...We have the news:
From Universal Orlando (http://www.universalorlando.com/harrypotter/)
Somethings on it say:
Universal also announced that the highly anticipated land will open in Spring 2010
After the HRRR building problems, I don't expect Spring (well early Spring)
Guests will be able to sip butterbeer in Three Broomsticks, buy Extendable Ears at Zonko's and experience a state-of-the-art attraction that brings the stories of Harry Potter to life in a way never before imagined.
This seems interesting.
The first attraction, Dragon Challenge, features twin high-speed roller coaster with many iconic elements from the Triwizard Tournament
RIP Dueling Dragons
Located in Hogwarts castle, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is a thrilling state-of-the-art attraction that uses entirely new technology to bring the magic, characters and stories of Harry Potter to life in ways never experience before.
About time we find something interesting. Well, they don't state much but the state-of-the-art part.

I agree with that. This would have been a perfect expansion 10 years ago. While I agree that it is a dumb theme, I'm sure that Universal will do a great job with the theming. I'm kind of disappointed that Dueling Dragons is getting a retheme (yeah, it isn't a huge change, but Dragon challenge is a dumb name and I like it how it is now), I'm looking forward to see the remake of Hogwarts and the surrounding areas, and whatever this "state-of-the-art" attraction is. I think it will either be similar to Spiderman or ROTM, and either of those would be awesome!
I have confidence that Universal will do a good job with a dying brand, but I think that Harry Potter is going to start being considered a classic that many generations will enjoy, and once again, I'm sure it's going to turn out great. If Cedar Fair were to do this, it would be a different story...

That all depends on how their contracts are written. For all we know, the whole island could have a 50 year contract, and we would have 40 more years of that section of Universal. It has also been rumored that Hulk and Spiderman have lifetime lisencing contracts, so those themes wouldn't change until the rides retired.

Lets' hope it doesn't become Toon Lagoon's area, which is small to start with and could get more room. Because if Hulk and Spiderman stay, the can only fit into the themeing of Toon Lagoon through the comic books of both of them.
And it would suck to have back-to-back years of new area/ re-themed area.
Worse case, Disney send both to there parks. I'm not saying it's bad (even though Disney could use Hulk very badly) but the names would end up being like Dumbo's Flight Adventure (Spiderman) and Mickey and Minnie's Coaster (Hulk) with kiddie themeing. Disney has very kiddie themeing (i'm excluding TOT ,RNR, LMA, EE, and Dinosaur) and a new ride would probably have a kiddish theming.
Also, and i HIGHLY doubt this, but Spiderman, if sent to Disney, could be that Little Mermaid Dark Ride Disney wanted for the Fantasayland expansion.

Universal once again raises pass prices and adds black-out dates. Is it even worth it to get a pass anymore? This is the same problem that is bugging me about Six Flags, decrease in loyalty to customers.
David
01-07-2011, 02:18 AM
The difference is, Six Flags undervalues their product. Six Flags could easily make Season Passes $150, and people would still buy. But they got their customers into this model that says, "We're uber cheap, pick us!" I for one don't mind the slight increase in pass pricing.

I wouldn't mind of Six Flags passes went up to $80 or $90, but that's where I would start having issues with their pricing.
At $160, that isn't too bad for a Universal pass, but the blackout dates are ridiculous! You can't go in July, most of August, the and of December, or half of April. That just seems absurd to me for how much those passes cost. And you keep hearing stories of Universal decreasing their loyalty to AP holders, for example when they promised pass holders a first look at Harry Potter World. Did that ever even happen?
