The backround story is quite simple, but I'll give it to you now so we're not all making up different stories about the disaster.
NASA has just released really cool news. The sun is about to emit a solar flare visible from Earth. They say it posses no immediate threat to Earth, however, it is coming in the next 24 hours, and we will need to wear some special sunglasses if we will be outside. You think it's interesting, but you don't give it much thought. Until the next day. You turn on the TV to hear one of the reporters saying that the flare should be coming in the next 3 to 5 minutes! You decide to watch it from the TV so as to see more detail. You sit on the couch and hear some dog in the distance barking. You silently plead with the owner to shut it up, if the flare made a sound, he wanted to hear it. "In 5, 4, 3, 2-" the reporter says and then cheers as you see an image of a fireball. You turn to see the thing out the window as it flows like water across the atmosphere. Then you hear a noise. Loud would be a major understatement. You watch out the window as the fireball suddenly and unexpectedly hits the ground and rushes towards the house. You scream and run to the middle room of the house, and then remember that your family is out at the neighbors house. Despite what your instincts tell you, you rush out and launch yourself to the neighbors garden as your screaming family rushes into the house along with you. You run to their bathroom and listen as the thing rushes and threatens to burn the house down. Finally, you look up to a light- no roof. You look outside at the devestating aftermath of the flare and gasp.
This was my backround story, you can change it a bit for yourself, but keep the devestation at a maximum, and the solar flare is the disaster, not an earthquake or something like that, but a solar flare. You'll also need a bio and a description of your character.
Name: Jason
BIO: An honrable, and couragous young man, he is only 15, and he now has to deal with a post-apocaliptic world. He is great at communications and technical stuff, and he is going to have to show it now with the dangers ahead. He also has his family with him. Amazingly, his family survived, and all 17 of his family members survived, however, they weren't all in the same place, and they had to allow some time for 5 family members who lived down in Miami. Finally, once they were ready to get out of the house with the supplies they had, they drove to a store, and started to loot.
Personality: Friendly, sociable, brave, technical, nice, fun loving guy. Good at setting up communication devices and able to identify most plants, animals, and diseases.
