One of our site moderators, Jps, added some pictures and descriptions of Wiggles World at SFFT and they are a perfect example of why Six Flags drives me crazy, and I thought it would make a good discussion topic.

One of the things that I liked the most about SFFT was that it was a well-themed and well-balanced park. It was great for my family with the strategic placement of kiddie rides throughout the park, and I really disagree with adding rides for cheap childrens brands that will lose all of their popularity in 10 years. That park was perfectly balanced for my family; there was a mini ferris-wheel and mini train right next to Rattler and Road Runner, a frog hopper right by Superman, as well as the kiddie area. They had an antique car ride by Poltergeist and a school bus ride and mini-swing ride by Scream, and many boardwalk flats by THBS for those still too young to ride. For Wiggles World, they moved the School Bus ride, the Train Ride, and the Frog Hopper. That really isn't a huge deal as the park is still fairly balanced, but Six Flags is slowly moving all of their flats into kids areas and forcing families to split up for hours instead of 30 minutes or less while the older kids rode coasters.

I understand that Six Flags wants to be family friendly, but they are forgetting an importand part of the family; the older kids! Typically if a family is going to an amusement park, they don't want to just take little kids for Thomas Town. To be family friendly, they need thrill rides to keep the teens entertained! I think they have the right approach when I see things like Batman: The Dark Knight and THBS, but I just cringe when they advertise a New Wiggles World as "Fun For the WHOLE Family." How many teens do you know who want to spend their saturday at Thomas Town with their little siblings?

How does Six Flags Drive You Crazy?

I know this is an old topic, but I completely agree.

SFMM just announced their new kiddie coaster (Roadrunner, SFNO's roller skater). It had been rumored for months, and ever since then I doubted it, until there was more proof that it was true.

I don't like the idea. Trust me, I'm all for family-friendly rides at parks. I think it's great that that's what Six Flags is focusing on. However, a roller skater is not "family-friendly". You can call it whatever you want, but behind everything, it's a kiddie coaster.

The park already has two kiddie coasters, plus Bugs Bunny World and Thomas Town. Another kiddie coaster is not what the park needs! I was hoping for a THBS clone or something similiar, something the whole family can ride together. Something like a Roller Skater is NOT the kind of the thing you make a trip out to the park for with your family.

Kind of a waste of an addition imo. Terminator was great, but the park needs something medium-sized with a 42 inch height reqirement. This Roller Skater is not going to fill that gap...

Lol i agree, but have you been to Cedar Point? They have at least 2 or 3 kiddie coasters. Which is really pointless.

This is why Six Flags drives me crazy, Since the start of last decade SFKK has gained (excluding water park, because I never go to that anyway) Six (6) rides (Road Runner Express, Greezed Lightnin', Skycoaster, Slingshot, Deluge, and Turbo Bungy). However SFKK has lost Ten (10) (Chang, Slingshot, Quake, Turbo Bungy, Rainbow, S:TOP, Chaos, Top Elimination Dragsters, Thriller Bees, and Twisted Twins). To me, that is a very negative way to end a decade from how well Ed Hart had left it from the previous decade.

(I didn't include Mile High Falls in the list because there is a chance SFKK is getting it back)

I agree but some of them were safety hazards (Rainbow, S:TOP) Others like Chaos just were a pain in the ass to maintain and etc which is why most parks have gotten rid of them.

I dont count Slingshot and turbo bungy as rides since they cost money to ride. So we really didnt go down very far because we start the decade off with a bang in 2011.

Bonzai Beach, 5D theater more then likely, a possible new coaster if rumors are true and some repainting on rides like T2 which if rumors hold true on this on it, it will be painted up black by years end and ive heard some versions of the rumor say it could be themed. So I'd say 2011 will be the real start to the decade.

Yes. Cedar Point has two kiddie coasters, like SFMM does now. Cedar Point is also a lot better balanced than SFMM.

I agree, just wish they would burn mean streak down or do something to it. I think i got a concussion off of it, god it was the worst coaster ive ever been on.

I cannot agree more. The whole ride I was off of my seat, and it wasn't the "good airtime" out of your seat feeling, it was the "OMG I think the lap bar is going to break from all this F****** bouncing". And Yes It hurt.

Hate to say it, but if Bonzai Beach is going to be as big as people say, we're not getting a coaster in 2011. Isn't Six Flags only spending about $110 Million in 2011 anyway? The only way I think we will get a coaster is if these rumors of Six Flags spending $315 Million in 2013 are true. (not too sure about that one)

according to the SEC paper i found, between 100 and 150. Ive only heard the rumor of a possible coaster for 2011, if we did it would probably be a small coaster like Tony Hawk's big spin.

Which reminds me, remember that rumor that hawk was going to be promoting a ride at the park? Well it might be a water ride. They have a slide at a six flags park with Tony Hawk in the name. So with Bonzai beach coming it has a pretty good possibility now, but I havent heard anything more, just found out he promoted a water ride which is why I think this could be the answer to the rumor.

A coaster at SFKK for 2011? IMO, the parks' biggest coaster, Chang, being replaced with a waterpark expansion does not sound good for another coaster at the park...I'm not trying to sound negative, it just seems most realistic as the ride-park rides are just decreasing without being replaced, but the water park is continuing to get expansions.

Well you have to keep the main visitors coming and be more competitive with the 2nd largest (I believe) water park in the country which is 70 miles away. Once you stabilize the waterpark, you can then begin to bring in new rides. Plus you have to remember, this is the only major waterpark in Kentucky. Most people I know go to Great Wolf to do their waterpark since they dont like what the park has so thats really saying something.

Theirs just alot of competition for the waterparks in the surrounding area which is pretty much the main problem. Dont keep it up to date and exciting people want to go else where or just will quit coming. I expect once Bonzai anchors the water park side, they'll begin with the rides soon.

This is why Six Flags drives me crazy....

Fail Me To The Moon, which cam out in August of 2008, is still at GADV, in the year of 2009 (well offseason of 2009).

Looking at the ex-Paramount parks that have Flight of Fear , which has some nice theming, makes a themed coaster, like Kingda Ka or Terminator, at Six Flags look horrible.

The parking lot, compared to Disney- where they get scolded for having a napkin fly out of Epcot and find it's way to the parking lot.

Food variety, because i'm sick of Johnny Rockets, which is horrible (but has better servings than real Johnny Rockets with their "not even close to actually size of the burgers shown on the poster" burgers, and Papa John's Cardboard, i mean pizza.

The signs that say "45 minute wait from this point" when it only takes about 10 minutes to get your seat on the ride.

The operaters who are suppose to tuck in their shirts, and not sit down and down nothing on the job (unless you have a kiddie ride with no one on it).

Go ride Medusa at SFM and then come back and tell me that Mean Streak is horrible.

They need to make a decision, are they a theme park or water park. Are they a water park or a theme park. There is a reason the water park gets more crowds than the theme park, the park is neglected. The park is not getting treated as well some people like to think. This T2 stuff has not been confirmed yet and could not even be happening and this new coaster stuff is probably false. Even if T2 does get painted it will probably get a simple paint job.

I agree. The waterpark is what's popular in the park. That's what Six Flags cares about. Which is why in a few years I can see the ride-park gone.

I have to disagree with that. Terminator has great theming (at least for Six Flags). Flight of Fear is just in a big box...

About the ride signs, you can't blame Six Flags for those. Usually the signs for the wait time is what the wait would be if the ride was running one train. It's just so it doesn't disappoint you if the ride suddenly goes from two trains to one and you have to wait longer than you thought you would.

It sounds like Six Flags has driven Robb and Elisa Alvey too far and they may be boycotting SFMM now.

I think Six Flags should reupgrade their Flash Pass to the ones you get at staying at a universal hotel in orlando. Unlimited front of the line, whenever you want (like right now ;)) for 99% of the rides. The Universal Pass is just awesome. Even though it would become more expensive, it would be worth it at the bigger parks (like riding every rolller coaster twice in one day at SFMM)

I thought the pass at Universal is $30 and you get to skip the line once on each ride and twice on 1 ride that you choose.

Thats the one you just buy seperately at the park, however if you stay at one of their 3 hotels (i.e. The Hard Rock Hotel) that are on the property, your room key doubles as an unlimited front of the line pass! It's pretty cool

Can't you also pay for stuff in the park on your room key and It gets charged to your room?

I'm not sure, I never tried. That would also pretty really cool. A perk that ups the ante.

Yeah, my friend went there in 2008, and I think I remember them texting me saying they could buy a hot dog with there room key, haha.
