The big colored shoes also known at SFKK as The Flying Dutchman has been closed since mid August. At first it looked temporary, but then they blocked the entrance with a sign that says something about technical difficulties. The sign has been there for a few weeks now.
The ride is sandwiched between Thunder Run and Mile High Falls/Woods Of The Wicked, and my theory was that they closed it so that you can't watch them put up the woods of the wicked from the ride. WHen on the ride you can see the entirety of Woods Of The Wicked over the privacy fence that has encloses that area with Mile High Falls.
Anybody heard anything about this?

It's just down for some TLC. Speedway was down for 2 weeks for seatbelt replacements (they redesigned them), so I'm sure this is something similar. I wouldn't worry about Flying Dutchman, it's not going anywhere.

It'll probably be down for the rest of the season, but will definitely be back next season. How could the park do away with its oldest ride?

It's a fun ride to unwind on after a vigorous bout with...the Rollerskater.

I like the Rollerskater, and if I wasn't 6' 4", I'd like it an incredible amount more (size problems, you see).

It's back open, opened up late today. Only thing I noticed is that it has a pedal now you have to stand on when operating.
