There is a banner hanging on the Chang construction fence that confirms that the name of the new waterpark area will be Bonzai Beach.

Maybe there'll be an Asian theme to it, instead of Caribbean like everyone else? Probably not, but it'd be cool!

Austin
09-25-2009, 08:52 PM
Hmm.. that would be nice. Next remove the pavilion and the wheel and make the European section, and then you got basically a cultural theme going on. :P of course im just playing around lol.

Asian theme would open up new possibilities that havent been explored by other six flags parks so that would be a plus.

I thougth of some cool slide names for Bonzai Beach:

Kamakazi Kowabunga
Japanese Jump
Beijing Falls
Nile River Rapids

Good names though

Do you have pictures of the banner? Where exactly was it on the fence in the park and what exactly did it say?

Japanese Jump is a Cedar Fair name. Just sayin...

I don't think the wheel will ever be removed. The Giant Wheel is the "Sun over the Bay." If you ever noticed the lights and all, it's supposed to be the sun over the water park.

I do forsee the wheel getting painted up and having an LCD package installed on it like the wheel in St. Louis.

It also states that next year you will be seeing construction of the water park. The waterpark will open in 2011 of the 50th anniversary of Six Flags.

elvisboogens

Heh. They should have just talked to one of us. Anybody on this website could have told them that groundbreaking info.

But at least it eases speculation about the construction.

Austin
09-29-2009, 02:41 PM
Lol i was only kidding about that. Ive been wanting it repainted for a long time. The LCD would be nice to. Maybe upgrading to LED lighting to save money also.

Um...well.....The addition is great and all but for the big 50. Idk but they should get a coaster for 2011 instead of this. Yet this is nice and good for the waterpark.

elvisboogens

Thise were my thoughts too. If in the big 5 - 0, where everybody gets a mega sweet birthday present, and our mega sweet present is more waterpark, that gives me little faith that in any other random year we would get something sweet like a new coaster. For me this is like socks for Christmas, except I could use socks more than a waterpark expansion.

---------- Post added at 07:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:47 PM ----------

I just reread the cj article again. It said the park currently has 6 coasters. Are they counting Twisted Twins or Deluge?

Road Runner Express
Greezed Lightenin'
T2
Roller Skater
Thunder Run

Must be including Deluge.

With Twisted There is 7 not including Deluge.

elvisboogens
09-29-2009, 10:26 PM
Twisted Twins should count as one coaster with two tracks, not two coasters completely. Same goes for the rest of the duelling/racing coasters.

SFKK_Nate

The article is either still counting Chang (possible) or is counting Deluge (probable) because I believe Deluge is "officially" a coaster.

The park counts Twisted Twins as two coasters because the layout of the tracks are so different. If Thunder Run just happened to share the same station as Twisted, it would still be a different coaster, right? Same as Stella and Lola.

Vic
09-30-2009, 01:35 AM
We had a billboard at the park last year that said we had 7 coasters (it was including deluge).. so yes i would assume that is also what the article is talking about.

I just hope that Bonzai Beach dont get any boring water slides. Becasue there rumors going around saying there having only two water slides and there not that thrilling. I cant wait to find out what water slides they get.

Austin
11-16-2009, 07:53 PM
i think it will be much more like Holiday world, but everything newer, more innovative and etc but expect some of the same slides, like family raft slides such as zoombabwe. I say innovative because they do have to compete with HW now and they need a real sticking point and they have the chance to do it with this much land and the money they are putting into this. maybe even a aquatrax.

nitrofan
11-17-2009, 12:03 AM
I'm not getting too excited until I see more info. Six Flags has the potential to make this great and we have seen them do great things recently, but we have also seen them screw quite a few things up.

Mark Shapiro said that he never thought Chang was a good fit at SFKK, so clearly he just wanted it out to use somewhere else. They may not even use much of Chang's former land. All I'm expecting is 2-3 new slides and a little bit of new theming. If it is better than that, GREAT, but if it's not, then I won't be disappointed like I have been before.

Austin
11-17-2009, 02:37 PM
why would they not even use half the land and build 2-3 slides? Its a massive expansion thats taking a year plus. building a slide would only take a few months.

nitrofan
11-17-2009, 06:24 PM

It has been confirmed that the new expansion would open in over a year plus. I highly doubt major construction will go on for that long. Not much has been confirmed, and for all we know, it could be a new resteraunt, 2-3 new slides, and new theming. I would actually be surprised if we get more than 3 MAJOR new slides.

I'm not ruling anything out, but there is a repeating pattern going on with Six Flags; something small leaks/gets announced, it gets built up on the internet, people get mad when it isn't what it got built up to be. It has happened multiple times in the past few years.

Austin

Well since we seem to be the test park of the chain for new water park attractions, maybe we could get this new product from ProSlide:

http://sfkkonline.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=2&pictureid=314

This is called the ProSlide Tantrun Alley. It is the blue slide in the picture. As you can see, it has 3 funnels like the ones found on Tornado. This is a fairly new design, but ProSlide is a very reliable slide company who built Mega Wedgie, Deluge, and Tornado, so we maybe we will see this in Bonzai Beach!

Other slides I'm hoping for/expecting for are a Mat Racer (I'm surprised we don't have one yet) and a body slide complex with a twister slide and a drop slide.

Austin
11-25-2009, 02:03 PM
Im hoping for some family raft rides like zoombabwe at holiday world.

Maybe even a plummet slide. Maybe a turbo twister slide complex with a few plummet slides.

Well since most likely Twisted Twins aint coming back i think there going to put the picnic pavillion where Twisted Twins is and use the space for where he picnic pavillion was and expand the bonzai beach. I also heard that there making a pool like Hurricane Bay but it is going to be twice the size. Also heard it going to be themed just like a beach which is obvious since its called Bonzai Beach. More as it comes.

Austin
01-10-2010, 01:51 PM
I think they should put the zero depth wave pool in. If you didnt see my other post, its pretty much a circle, and you can expand it out in diameter to meet your needs. It has more capacity then a standard wave pool since it can fit more people in and can even have a fountain with lasers and a slide from what i understand without decreasing capacity.

I doubt the park will move the picnic area. Its better to keep it where it is so it could be used for the waterpark and Thrillpark. BTW, I wouldn't be surprise if the park uses real sand Like The Beach Waterpark in Kings Mills Ohio

One question I have is that will they take out the walkway between T2 and the Giant Wheel (AKA. Trillville) and make the Water Park areas connected, OR keep the walkway and build a bridge from SplashWater Kingdom to Bonzai Beach, OR keep the walkway and just have 2 different entrances on each side of the Six Flags Food Court area?

Austin
01-17-2010, 03:52 PM
Ive been told that there will be a bridge that connects the two waterparks. Possibly from where the current tube rentals are over to where the thrill karts are if they are removed. Thats just my guess as to where it would go. I would expect that there would be a entrance off the walkway also.

cory
01-17-2010, 08:22 PM
I heard the same thing about a path way from Bonzai Beach to splash water kingdom. I also heard that the thrill karts are getting removed along with the pavillions. A person i know that use to work there said that they been trying to purchase land for a while. Maybe they finally did but if they did it will be for Bonzai Beach cause it aint that much space.

Probably surveying the ground.

That signals they are doing some work to MHF.

MadCard05
01-22-2010, 05:22 PM
I've probably mentioned this 1,000 times, but Bonzai Beach is supposed to start being built over the summer. So the survey work being done now is no surprise.

MHF on the other hand, that is exciting. :)

Austin

Im excited to get to the park this spring. Got alot to cover lol.

hardie1010
01-22-2010, 05:42 PM
Yeah, but now it will be a LOOOONNNNGGGG walk from the Giant Wheel to T2

Also, I was thinking that maybe this could be the start to take out the water park out of the center by building Bonzai Beach and taking it outside the loop. Then in later years close Splashwater Kingdom and put amusement park rides there, Maybe a Mega-Light :) lol.

Austin
01-22-2010, 05:54 PM
True. Theres a good sized portion of land there so they could possibly fit them in over there.

Im so excited really lol. Got pictures of bonzai to get, MHF, the park in general and everything else. Im hoping to go at least once a month if not more.

How and the world can you see someone by the ride when that park is closed? The Bucket truck could be used for anything such as painting and painting and painting.

Austin

So something was painted ;) lol. Im guessing since it was on the second part of the park that it was either MHF or T2 being painted.

You cant see anything form the gate to mile high falls because the trees are in the way. The only thing you can see is the lift hill and the drop. Your friend could of seen people in the lot just behind the Roller Skater which is the only thing visible.
