If you had infinite capital, what changes would you make to SFKK? Remember, it's more interesting to list incremental changes than it would be to say, "Buy the city of Louisville and replace the Interstates with roller coasters" (though, that owuld be pretty sweet).
I would buy the section of Ring Road that runs through the park from the State, and reroute it around the front side of SFKK. Then I'd move the front gate to the Bounty/Greezed end of the road, and name that section of road Main Street or some crap. Then you could line the sides with novelty retail/food locations (just like WDW, actually) and it would be pretty sweet.
I'd leave the bridge where it is, as a monument to simpler times.

Good idea, but the bridge has never been a monument to anything more than sheer determination to get to the other side.
I'd put 2 parallel launch coasters that run in a straight line from the front of the park across the road to the very back of the park. just 2 straight lines, like this: l l
It would be the most awesome monorail of all time from point a to point b. Keep in mind, you can still walk if you want. But you get on one end, get off the other on both trains. Sweet.

Realistically, I would make the wave pool full of peanut butter, that way the waterpark wouldn't be popular anymore, except to the fourteen peanut butter-fetish freaks in the world, and since the waterpark wouldn't be popular anymore, they would have to take it out and put in more roller coasters.

Two words..MORE RIDES!!..and a new BM floorless looper :P
p.s. peanut butter is the shiz ;)

My wishlist further includes:
1.Gravitron or Scat
2.Feverball
3.Aquatrax (I agree with Palmer)
4.A Pipeline coaster (I believe it would be the first one in the states)
5.An Inverter
6.Removal of Skycoaster for 1 and 2
7.Return of the Rainbow
8.Remove the motion theater, replace with ANYTHING (I hate that stupid thing)
9.A real, professional strength go kart track, maybe even with races for prizes
10.A train that circles the park
11.Mini golf
I don't think any of that would be impossible, and could be done within the restrictions of the park (mostly).

Skycoaster is a cash cow. I wouldn't let it go.
elvisboogens

In my park, there would be no sky coaster. Money isn't everything, especially if you have the money I would have if I were in charge of the park.

Expand the waterpark adding in everything thats not there. Including a Aquatrax.
Completely refurbish Thunder run aka, a full re-track, and get GCI to approve it to get the millennium trains. Or have Gravity come out and change it to magnetic braking to add their new timberliner trains and yes they use magnetic brakes and it can be launched lol.
Replace T2's trains with the new model trains. The current trains are prototypes, so that explains the roughness.
Re-paint T2
Upgrade Greezed Lightnin to magnetic braking, and get away from the drop weight launch system, and go to something more modern.
Build a bridge from the right hand side of enterprise that connects directly with Belgian village, that would save so much time walking to where the rides are.
Turn the park into a real Thrill park with a transformation of the northwest section into Something like DC comic section at SFNO. Probably include a Flying coaster for batman, S&S free fall tower(much safer), and a few other stuff.
Get new rafts for Blizzard River(the current ones dont drain correctly) Also refurbish the scenery, like where the water has run its turned rust colored, and i cant remember which but i believe the duck, it looks so disfigured.

Cool idea for the DC comic section, but it couldn't go into Northwest. The height restriction over that section of the park is about 100 ft, compared to 200 ft elsewhere.
Austin
09-25-2009, 08:26 PM
Eh =/ Surely they could fit a flyer back there. Thye could build the free-fall towers under 100 ft. Not as thrilling but it still offers a missing thrill to the park. maybe a ride like catwomens whip, i remember SFNO has one. They had a troika themed to joker also, it had a big jukebox in the scenery.
That plan i created was a basis plan of things that seriously need to be fixed, and a modernization plan.
Out of all of it, id say the T2 parts would have the most drastic change in ride experience.
While the plan would be expensive it would pay off itself little by little. Magnetic braking reduces wear and tear drastically, so that would lead to a reduced amount of the maintenance costs, while improving ride experience with a smoother stop, maintaining smoothness throughout ride. That would most benefit Thunder Run.
I was told that alot of Greezed lightnin's problems were the trims on the way back through the station, so magnetic braking there would be a great improvement.

3.Aquatrax (I agree with Palmer)
Thank you. LOL
Alright, how bout a splash battle. Maybe a Giga (doubtful) or Hyper. Floorless/Inverted. A Shot/drop tower, one that's wither three or four. Clear MHF and TT out. A 3-D or 4-D (like Shrek) simulator. A skyride/cable car ride (if they don't have one. They help you move around the park and show the beauty and landscaping).

Palmer the park has no lnadscaping. lol.
The park really needs to get its 2 major coasters in order before we get a new one.

1.I'm pretty sure T2 was red the first few years it was open. I know you can see red underneath where the black paint is coming off. I'd like to see them repaint it red.
2.Along with the Enterprise bridge, a bridge past Bluebeard's Bounty and the Skycoaster where Nightmare Inc. (is that it's name?) is that lets out by the picnic pavilion would also be nice. Some picnic tables may need to be moved.
3.I've said it before. If the money were there, digging down a little would increase the height restriction in Northwest. Could be done unless KEC said no.

Rumor has always been that they want to move the picnic area somewhere else.
After 2011 park news for all Six Flags parks should get pretty interesting. Schapiro said in an interview that he planned on giving each park something new every year after the 50th anniversary.

Kentucky Kingdom is going to get really crowded really quickly without the room to expand if that's the case.
Austin
09-26-2009, 12:52 AM
Well do we really need a picnic area of that size?
elvisboogens
09-26-2009, 01:00 AM
NO. We don't need any picnic areas. It's such a 1980's idea to go on company picnics or hold church functions or whatever at an amusement park. It's unfathomable to me that somebody thought that was ever a good idea.

I'm still under the impression that a dry park will eventually be created on the outskirts of the city. It just doesn't make sense to turn SFKK into a water park without the intention of building a dry park.
Austin

Remove the picnic section, aswell as the thrill karts, let all of that be a waterpark section.
Not sure on this but, Buy land behind T2, expand out that way.
elvisboogens
09-26-2009, 01:12 AM
You mean the Thrill Karts aren't going with chang? I just assumed that they were. I don't know if the park or KEC owns the land behind T2 but it's a big grassy section/chang parking lot with a few condemned-ish houses on it. Totally expandable park area, if you ask me.

Thats why i suggested it. well they will probably be taken out in mid summer. Idk they will probably try to keep them to get a bit more money before taking them out.

Thrill Karts aren't going with Chang for now. They're still open.
elvisboogens
09-26-2009, 01:21 AM
Those Thrill Karts are the worst Kart experience of all time. Go Karts can be the most awesome thing a person could ever do, but the Thrill Karts ruin that in every way just about.
Austin
09-26-2009, 01:22 AM
They will though. I mean it wouldnt make sense to leave them. They're so unpopular, and it would just be in the way of the waterpark. Its only a matter of time
elvisboogens
09-26-2009, 01:24 AM
It seems like they would almost have to be demolished just in the removal of Chang alone.
Austin
09-26-2009, 01:31 AM
Lol i know. They managed to avoid them in the painting tho. The way it looks so far is they are going to start with the station/brake run/lift and worked towards the pathway.

I really don't foresee them surviving the water park expansion.
They would never removie the PicNic Grove... most people seem to forget.. this is a business and that is where most of the money comes from... We have a lot of catered outings with 1,000 guest or more. Including at least 2 biuy-outs in September every year of 5,000+ people not to mention Outdoor Classroom (school field trips) who bring their own lunches and eat back there.
Parks everywhere have company outings.. Kings Island closes to the public for the majority of the month of September because they have buy-outs every weekend of the month!

Maybe reduce the size? I know that Kings Island has a picnic se ction but its not in direct connection with the dry park or the waterpark

I don't understand pinic areas at all. If you want to go to a picnic, go to a PARK. If you want you scream your brains out of roller coasters go to an AMUSEMENT/THEME PARK.
Remove it and get a B&M Inverted. B:TR style.

It's not all about money. I really enjoy Skycoasters. I will pay for them if they are reasonable, and I would be disappointed if Six Flags took their skycoasters out unless they got a very good replacement.[COLOR="Silver"]

No, SLC's are just rough. T2 has the standard SLC train. Vekoma does have 2 new train types for SLC's, but one has never been tested and the other has only been used on one coaster.[COLOR="Silver"]

A nice GCI/CCI/Intamin Woodie would be good.
Remove T2 and put the B&M inverted there.
B&M Flyer.
A flat ride with a theme/story to it.

Look at my Hyper Coaster Dream... It fits perfect into the park!

I dont think they can even build one like that for two reasons.
1. Height
2. That section you placed the helix isnt owned by the park, its KEC and i believe MSD owned. I think its some kind of overflow system for the sewers
Looks prety nice though lol

A little bit of a tight fit and it's not going to happen as long as Shapiro is around, but it would be pretty cool!

I'm not sure if that was a joke, but it's actually a pretty good point.
No joke at all.. i know which one brings in more money!

Nitro the compnay outings definately bring in more money then a 14 million dollar B&M. Add the B&M and sure people will flock to the park for the premier year, and then off and on over the years, company outings provide direct income without paying for anything. The B&M tho will pay it self off over a few years but its really a matter of get money now or spend money and pay it off later.

Not sure if this would have any effect but I read in the CJ monday the airport is still trying to relocate homes so those homes behind T2 could be relocated leaving the park with a giant area of land that it could buy up and use.
