View Full Version : Mile High Falls re-themed?

I preface what I'm about to say by saying this: I'm fairly confident that park employees don't know much, if anything probably.

That being said...

An employee told me recently that Mile High Falls is being re-themed as Aquaman: The Ride, and will reopen as such in 2011, which I suppose coincides with the anniversary. I'm not a fan of the idea, really. I am a fan of the ride though.

Lol, I just read this rumor on SFKK's Facebook. I'm pretty sure that Mile High Falls is gone for good. I've seen pretty good evidence that it has mechanical problems.

I'm finally starting to have some hope in this company seeing things like Terminator and Batman: The Dark Knight (yes, it impressed me). If they retheme a freakin' splash boats for their 50th Anniversary, I will lose all hope in SFI. I'm glad this is a rumor though and I'm pretty sure it isn't true.

Lol aquaman? who the heck came up with that rumor? thats the most rediculous thing ever. i see no way that MHF can get themed, and the state its in.

My theory is that the ride operators get asked so many dumb questions that they can't answer that they make the answers up for a laugh. I know I probably would.

Either that or somebody from the vintage car show that was going on that weekend.

Austin

Lol. sounds like a good ride but it owuld have to be enclosed and all before i would consider it even remotely possible to be themed. If it was themed in the outdoors, you would see everything on the next scene, and it would just look weird lol.

I know it sounds ridiculous, i think it is ridiculous right now, but at SFOT (somewhere around 2002-2005) Splashwater Falls (the same thing as Mile High Falls) was rethemed to Aquaman Splashdown for that year's big addition.

What employee told you that? Like where did they work.

The guy in the booth at the Giant Wheel. He said a bunch of other stuff too, but things were going on in the park and I couldn't make much except for the Aquaman thing.

Honestly, I don't know what the ops know. It seems to me that being low in the employee food chain would mean that they aren't privvy to such info. That's the way it's been everywhere I've ever worked.

My friend is a ride op for T2 and she said that they was getting rid of the twisted twins cars the month before it happened, then she told me that they was keeping mile high, and that we would get new "unique ride to sfkk" so im going with her. she never said anything about aquaman though, maybe we will actually get DC universe or soemthing like what SFNO had

I'd trust your friend's info.

i mean if the new rumor is aquaman then DC universe section sounds just about right. I really like the one at new orleans.

Hmmmm... I'm trying to figure out who you all know. I probably know them.

If we get DC Universe it is quite possible it will be pulled out of NO to give to us.

Anyone who knows tech services decently could have told you that the Twisted Cars were moved. I really don't know if it means anything though. St. Louis wanted the cars, and we weren't using them so it was whatever.

Really, most of the employees don't know too incredibly much. Even Tech Services is kept in the dark until an announcement is close, and that's how most rides employees find out.

I know there is an incredible desire amongst lots of employees of varying ranks throughout the park to see Mile High return. It is a very beloved ride.

Twisted I think is hit and miss. Some people love it, some people like it, but wouldn't mind it being taken down. I think guests as a whole would love to see it back.

IMO, if you see Twisted come back it could end up being a 2 part deal. One half 2010, the other half 2011. I haven't heard any whispers of that being a possibility, but it sounds logical if bringing Twisted back is a possibility.

^maybe an announcement is very close, but we don't know it. more of a big suprise.

Austin

it needs to go. replace it with a quality steel coaster.

Her last name is black if that helps you any. But idk if they can take the stuff from NO with how water damaged it is and i dont think they own the property anymore either

palmer
09-09-2009, 10:49 PM
^Well, they took out B:TR from SFNO two years ago and re-built/re-themed it to Golaith @ SFFT. Hurrican Katrina occured in '04 and they took it out in '07. I believe they didn't own it in '07, so it might be possible.

elvisboogens
09-09-2009, 10:53 PM
At least they managed to salvage something from SFNO. I heard the whole park was more or less destroyed.

Austin
09-09-2009, 10:53 PM
No they owned it then. I think they just sold the land to nickelodeon tho

palmer
09-09-2009, 10:54 PM
^Well, they did, but people are saying it was a cover up for the Souther star or something like that.

Austin
09-09-2009, 10:54 PM
they are salvaging their 2 drop towers also i heard. I hope they will rebuild mega zyph. it was a amazing coaster.

palmer
09-09-2009, 10:59 PM
Let's hope, but lets keep it the idea of the re-theme of MHF.

MadCard05
09-09-2009, 11:01 PM
They might have. NO won't let Six Flags sell the land unless it's too another theme park. They're basically screwing Six Flags out of LOTS of money. They signed a contract to keep Six Flags there before Katrina, but they won't help Six Flags get the park operational again apparently.

Firehawk or whatever in Kings Island was originally a Six Flags ride from NO I think, and it was originally rumored to be coming to SFKK.

Austin
09-09-2009, 11:02 PM
Damn it KI -.- I love firehawk!!!

palmer
09-09-2009, 11:04 PM
^i don't think firehawk wants to move...again.

Austin
09-09-2009, 11:05 PM
sfkk needs it tho lol. KI has like a bazzillion coasters. lol.

palmer
09-09-2009, 11:07 PM
^Only 13. Which is tied for like 4th with most coasters in a park, next to KD,SFGAdv,and Carowinds.

Plus, Firehawk is decently new. It wouldn't move just yet.

MadCard05
09-09-2009, 11:26 PM
I meant they were debating whether to move it to SFKK before they sold it to KI.

Austin
09-09-2009, 11:27 PM
sfkk should definately look at buying a flying coaster. The vekomas are the best lol. They should try and get the new model they just came out with.

palmer
09-09-2009, 11:32 PM
Well, There's only two flyers and both seem to be fine, new and fun. Vekoma Flying Dutchmans are very unique and new, and B&M Flyers are fun, not quite new, but they did do Manta this year and from what i have heard, Manta was great.

Ok, I just read the last 3 pages of this thread, and it blows my mind some of the discussion going on here. Mainly how off-topic it is getting.

First, why would Firehawk come to SFKK? It is owned by a completely different company, and even if it was owned by SFI, it was only installed 3 years ago. I don't care how many coasters KI has, it's not coming to SFKK PERIOD.

No they owned it then. I think they just sold the land to nickelodeon tho

SFI doesn't own the land in SFNO, they are on a long term lease. The city actually owns the land. They are in a dispute with the city about removing several rides and some equipment, and the land's status. The city claims that SFI is obligated to operate the park for the entire balance of the lease, while SFI believes that they can just pay lease payments and they are in the clear. The city of New Orleans is now trying to buy SFI out of the contract so that Southern Star can proceed with their proposed project to revamp SFNO and reopen it partnered with Nickelodeon.

^Well, they took out B:TR from SFNO two years ago and re-built/re-themed it to Golaith @ SFFT. Hurrican Katrina occured in '04 and they took it out in '07. I believe they didn't own it in '07, so it might be possible.

Keep in mind that Batman: The Ride was built very high off the ground and water never came in contact with the electrical components of the ride and only came in contact with the ride in a few places at the base of supports.

they are salvaging their 2 drop towers also i heard. I hope they will rebuild mega zyph. it was a amazing coaster.

Six Flags already removed the towers and they opened at Six Flags Great Escape at the beginning of the 2009 season.

From this point on, lets keep Six Flags New Orleans Discussion in the SFNO thread. If you have any questions about SFNO, I can most likely answer them, but we have a SFNO thread in the other parks section.

Back on Topic!

How many time I've been to the park, I never benn on that ride. I really like the theming of the ride.

If the pictures don't come up, search the ride on google.

Aquaman Splashdown at SFOT! That's the ride I was talking about earlier in the thread. I've been there and it really isn't that much. I would be very disappointed if Six Flags did that and advertised it as a new ride.
