I have only been to the Fright Fest event at SFFT in 2006 (and every year before that since 2000), and Six Flags Astroworld in 2005 (the last day the park was ever open). They both seemed like pretty decent events.
How is Fright Fest at SFKK? How do you think it will be this year compared to other years?

I've never been to a Fright Fest at SFKK...I do hope to change that. From pictures I've seen it looks like the park gets a little darker and has cobwebs around. Oh, and there's monsters running around...lots of them.

They have an area marked on the map for Fright Fest, so I'm guessing it's for a haunted house. Overall from what I've seen, Six Flags has really dropped the ball on this event.

Yeah, there is a paid attraction Haunted House near Skycoaster Plaza. Hopefully I'll get to head out to FF and give a trip report...I remember people saying good things about the event, but that was years ago.

ZING.
anyway, i'm pretty pumped for fright fest..its coming up so incredibly fast, geez. where did the year go...
I've been to SFKK for the past 5 years, and have yet to see any monsters roaming the park...they have some fog effects where it looks like one could pop out at you, but none ever do. =/

^Leave it to Six Flags to decide it's not worth the $7 an hour.

The park has confirmed that they will have an all new haunt called Nightmare Inc. in the Skycaster Plaza Fright Fest Venue. The enclosed bumper cars with lighting and sound effects will also return. This is all the info we have so far.
It sounds kinda lame to me considering that most Cedar Fair parks have 8-15 haunts and SFMM has a good number of haunts.

Actually the new haunt will be called Asylum 6

Why does Asylum 6 start at 2:13 p.m? That's incredibly random.

Idk. Maybe something with the whole 13 thing lol. But it is pretty random.

I can see that 2:13 makes sense. 2+1+3= 6, and it Asylum 6. 666. Devil. Haunt. Scares. ETC.

I'm guessing that it's a typo. Six Flags' website has tons of errors.

Well I don’t know about you all, but this years Fright Fest looks like a significant improvement over last years. I’m particularly excited about Dr. Frights Final Freak Out. Its about time the park got a show like this (although I won’t even presume its going to be on the level of the other parks). I wonder what songs they are going to sing?

no they open at 2:13, same as last year, its dumb, but its to incoperate the number 13
all of the haunts start at whatever:13.. they have for a few years now.... it is to incorporate the number 13.. but I like Palmer's theory...
Austin

lol actually palmer, 666 is the anti-christ lol.
anyone know where the wicked woods course will run through the belgian village?

^I know because it represents the devil, who goes against god. Lets drop the Christianity topic and get into fright fest.
What's with 13? 13 trails? 13 years?

Woods Of The Wicked will most likely run back through the northwest territory as it did last year.

i didnt know they had it last year. Well ill be doing it this year tho lol

Yeah it made it's return last year. Hopefully it will be bigger this year though.
Austin

Thats probably why i didnt know it was there last year, and in part because of the northwest closure last year.

That's weird. I thought the whole purpose of Fright Fest was to have the rides and haunts in the dark. If they are going to open the haunts in the middle of the afternoon, they should just keep them open the whole day.

Last year the House (Nightmare Inc) opened at 2:13 (it's inside who cares if it is dark outside?) and the Woods of the Wicked opened at 7:13 (i think) because it is outside and getting dark etc etc..
Austin
09-16-2009, 01:53 PM
last year was the first i did the nightmare inc. it did go out side a bit and used the old cabin from the wicked woods, but a majority of it is inside.
Nightmare Inc. has been there for the past three years. I believe they are putting in a haunt to replace that for the 2009 season...correct?
Also keep in mind that they have Woods of the Wicked back in the Northwest Territory section (running alongside Thunder Run), which is usually pretty fun.
But the best part of FrightFest at SFKK, hands down, is Elvira's House of Superstitions!
Austin

Lol yea i love that movie, but last year the winner was nightmare inc because some girls i didnt know just grabbed onto me the whole way shouting my name and running me through walls lol.

Are the haunts an upcharge, or are they free?
Austin

5 dollars gets you a combo ticket to both the nightmare inc and wicked woods.

I just went over to the park for a little while. I did Wicked Woods, but I didn't feel like standing in the line for Asylum 6, it was pretty long.
Woods of the wicked was ok, but not spectacular. Had I not been wandering around by myself in there it probably would have been better. The ghouls saw me meandering along alone, and rather than waste a scare on one guy, just kinda let me walk past. The group in front of me screamed quite a bit though.
I also decided that T2 in the front seat in the dark is the best ride in the park, hands down. But it has to be dark and in the front seat for it to work.

Were there any roamers? Also, Di you take any pics of Chang?

There were no roamers, and nothing was happening with the old shacks and booths and things they had set up either. There may have been earlier in the day, but there wasn't when I went.
I did take more pics of Chang when I was in the area around noon. I want to add them to my album so they'll all be in one place, but I don't have the room.

Is frightfest 2009 lamer then ever?
Its seems that as you all know that
six flags is downgrading this park and
they're also downgrading frightfest every
single year! I remember when the season pass
proccessing area was a haunted house... and blizzard
river was too, you went under the ride in a basement were
there was mazes and many puzzle for us to solve
-Is road rage cage still at the park... I havent seen this in years
-Do the woods of the wicked go back towards TT and you go inside the bloody restrooms in the northwest territory and the corn field by mile high falls like in 2005 and 2006?
-Are there many many monsters walking around the park like in 2004 or below?
-Is there a lot of scenery? hay? corn? pumpkins? anything?

When I went on Saturday night, Blizzard river was closed. No mazes, no puzzles. There is no road rage cage. Woods of the wicked winds around the area where MHF is closed off, it kinda goes around the front and that's it. No bloody restrooms, no corn field, no hay, no monsters roaming the park. A lot of graves and skeletons, abandoned looking sheds here and there, and a few pumpkins. Things could change, but that was what was up on Saturday.

Six Flags has been downgrading the event signifigantly over the past few years at nearly every park but SFMM.

They still advertise it like it's the best thing that ever happened to Halloween. In reality it's just a good excuse to ride things in the dark and hear 6 songs that aren't the same 6 they play the rest of the season.

Did they ever get any roaming monsters out in the park? and how much of fright fest will hold over for the final day of the season after Halloween, hmm. I still haven't made my way over there yet, I guess I should...
Austin
10-27-2009, 08:08 PM
Same. I havent been able to find time. Im going to have to squeeze it in one day this week during my research paper lol.
SFKK has had "roaming monsters" from the 1st day of FF.. maybe not as many as last year because i think they added more to the house/woodz but they have had some the entire month. As for Sunday.. everything should still be in full effect i would imagine..
nitrofan
10-27-2009, 11:39 PM
Well at halloween events in general, I have seen this across the country, they typically are short on actors the sunday after halloween, so while they still are open, they are usually cutting corners. I would guess that roaming monsters would be the first to go at a Six Flags event to improve the quality in the upcharge attractions.
Austin
10-27-2009, 11:47 PM
Well you have to remember Six Flags didnt cut many people like some companys did. So instead of having alot of people out working like before the economy tanked they kept the people so they just dont have them working as long or as often to save some money that way. But of course some like nitro said could be moved to the wicked woods or the other haunted house.
