Well, I just got back from what was supossed to be my trip to Freestyle Music Park in Myrtle Beach, SC. We left at noon and made the trip to the park. We pulled into the parking lot around 2, and not a single coaster was running due to inclament weather. There probably a few hundred cars in the lot, and it didn't seem that full. There weren't many cars coming and going, so me and my friend who I brought got out and walked around the parking lot for a few minutes. It looked like the weather was starting to clear, and my friend said "It's not that bad." Well, he must have jinxed us, because less than 5 seconds later, there was lightning and extremely loud thunder, and less than 30 seconds later, Time Machine, which was clearly visible a few seconds ago, was no longer visible through the rain.
We decided to wait it out until around 3, and the weather didn't look to be clearing anytime soon, so we decided to go find somewhere to eat to wait it out. We headed back to the park around 3:30, and decided to wait it out in the parking lot until just before 4, when the ticket deal expired, and make a decision on if we should enter the park then. It looked like it was clearing up around 3:50, so we headed up to the park entrance. We found every ticket booth closed, so we headed up to Guest Services to get our tickets.
We talked to the guy and he asked us what we wanted refunded. We said we wanted tickets, and his response was "why?" Now, did we just sound like complete idiots trying to get in? No rides were open at the time, but it looked like it was clearing out. He told us that there was no power in the park at the time, and Time Machine had been struck by lightning earlier in the day, and it would definately be closed the rest of the day. We decided not to go in, and they kindly refunded our parking. (They were also kindly refunding people for tickets, which was very nice considering there were huge signs all over saying No Refunds or Rainchecks.) We decided to leave and see what else we could find to do in Myrtle Beach.
If you want to hear about our 7 hour Myrtle Beach adventure, check back tomorrow, and I'll type it then, but otherwise, this concludes the Freestyle Music Park section. We are going to go back on Saturday, and give it another try, so look for a PTR of that on sunday.
