I found SFOT to be kind of boring.
Nice. Im going to Great Adventure sometime soon..
I was just there a few weeks ago. That park is awesome!
1 tip: don't ride El Toro more than 15 times or your thighs will get sore from getting slammed up against the lap bar during all the air time. It doesn't hurt while you're on the ride, but you will definately feel it the next day.
I found SFOT to be kind of boring.
I always think that to. I don't know why though.

But have you ever seen National Lampoon's Vacation (the original one with Chevy Chase)? They ride the coasters with out anyone operating it. Maybe they use their mind powers? LOL

GADV on May 21st for Band Trip. I can't wait for that.
Coastin' East Day is either April 2nd or 10th and i'm trying to go to that (Also at GADV).
For those who don't know what Coastin' East is (i know Nitrofan knows), it is a podcast all about world wide amusant news. It's on every tuesday, unless i am told otherwise by 1 of the people who helps out/ talks on the show (via twitter and other forums), at 7:30pm. It's cool. They talk all about up coming attraction, rumors, and plenty of other things. Plus, you (the listener) can not only listen but talk on the chat board with others about the discussion the podcast is talking about. It's a whole lot of fun. If you want to learn more or think about listening to Coastin' East, PM me and i'll give you the URL and the way to get to the show without getting lost or screwing something up.
Going to Fiesta Texas on Friday!!!!!!!! :D
Going to post the pictures tomorrow night. I have to edit them, thats why its taking this long!
I still not done with the pictures so I leave you with this Video of the Rockville Dickens Carolers!!!! That I typed when I was there 12-18-09!!!!!

I went last year (2009) in June. The park is very clean and nice, I loved the entrance/midway shops/Eiffel Tower. All very impressive. LaRosa's Pizza is also the best pizza I have ever had ever ever. However, the coaster collection is terrible; Diamondback and Beast are decent but Firehawk and Invertigo actually caused me to puke and go to the park ER...not joking. Wasn't impressed with the rest of the coaster collection either (I think Drop Tower was my favorite ride in the park).
Really any park without an Intamin coaster gets an automatic strike from me. :p

oh, I see. I'm not really as much of an Intamin fan as everyone else seems to be, I have to say however that I must have caught Firehawk & Invertigo on a good day, because those are easily two of my favorite Vekoma coasters, I didn't find either one of them rough, to me they were enjoyable.
Also, I love a park that has a B&M hyper. I don't know if I would have thought it was great before 2009, but Diamonback seemed to be a very necessary addition to there line up
Basically the reason I love Kings Island is it has alot of things I like a park to have, and I'm a HUGE fan of Arrow Suspended Coasters, I absolutely love them

I was with a group of friends that don't really like coasters so I only got to ride Flight of Fear. Pretty good ride I might add. Wish I could have ridden SoB with the loop.

It wasn't really that Firehawk and Invertigo were rough, it's just that I have motion sickness...so flying coasters, going backwards, and coasters that are rough I might add make me sick (basically all Vekoma's).
About suspended coasters, I'm not sure if I like them. Like I said, I love Ninja, but I found Iron Dragon and Flight Deck really lame.
hardie, you'll be surprised how much FOF has changed. I've heard its MCBR was not nearly as hard as it is now before CF took over!

^Is that near the sports resort one? Because that's the only resort I actually stayed on Disney's area. I stayed at this resort, nice one called Orange Lake, right out side of their ownership. It's on a main road, with like a bajillion rip off stores, mini golf courses and resturants. But they made a road that actually leads into the property and is a "secret road" to Animal Kingdom. You can actually see the backpart of Everest, like the peak and very little of track. It's pretty sick.

I dont think so. In 1999 we stayed in one of the All-stars but i remember walking with my dad from our pool to the sports pool. I think we was in All-star music. in 2001 we stayed in the Port Orleans resort and then in 2004, 2006 we stayed in the pop century. The other time in 2005 we stayed in the new Nickelodeon Suites. They was pretty nice to be honest but they wasnt 100% done building rooms and etc. I wanted to stay in the French Quarter or Port Orleans but they didnt listen -.-

How old was you when you went? If you started when you was like in high school it would be boring. But if you go often or when you was young you would never get tired of it and it would never lose its magic. All 4 parks are great. Great coasters, great flats and spectacular attention to detail, theme and the guests.
I went when i was a kid and didn't like it... i am going back this year for my nephews 5th birthday...
If i go to Orlando i would much rather spend my time at the Universal parks..
nitrofan
03-04-2010, 09:29 PM
I went to Disney once when I was 4, once when I was 6, and once when I was 12. When I was 12, most of it was kind of boring, but I enjoyed tons of coaster rides via single rider line. (I got 13 rides on Tower of Terror and 8 rides on Rockin' Rollercoaster in 4 hours!)

Disney is a rip off. :(
Blizzard Beach was fun though
Austin
03-04-2010, 09:56 PM
Small? lol they're like 3x larger then most parks. But you cant expect them to be cheap. They have to compete with busch, seaworld, universal and now legoland and all the rip-off places around orlando. I love the whole place. Its definitely better then Cedar Point as top park. You got the great detail, i am everywhere you look theres detail all the way to the very little bit you barely notice. Everytime I go theres always something new that i didnt notice last time and it looks brand new. When i go this july space mountain will be practically new, Cinderella castle is wrapping up a major refurb on the exterior, and they close down quite a few over the spring to clean them up and upgrade/update etc so its always something fresh and exciting.
It may be built for kids but im a true kid at heart lol. Im hoping we get to hit disney quest at downtown disney to. That place is amazing. If you havent tried it your missing out on some great fun. VR fights, VR Pirates of the Caribbean, and a virtual RCT3 of sorts.
bobbinbop20
03-04-2010, 10:10 PM
^Oh god, Cedar Point definitely is not a top amusement park to me, yes they have a few top coasters while most of the others aren't that great, but the place has no theme at all, It's just rides plopped down in the middle of nowhere.
To me Disney is more like a museum or something.
A good theme park needs good rides, good landscaping, and a variety of things to do for everyone. Disney just doesn't have that. I'm not anti Disney, I'm just not gonna waste my money there.
Austin
03-04-2010, 10:17 PM
Disney does have a good landscaping. Got to give them that lol. Epcot always looks fantastic. But just throing it out there lol and not to start an argument but all 4 parks have excellent rides(coasters and flats). While some are lacking a few like DHS and AK the ones they have are some of the more popular in the parks. Like Everest. Once you ride it, it will change how you view vekoma coasters and themed coasters forever. Everest is the #1 coaster they have ever built. Its got a silent lift hill, excellent theming, you get attacked by a animatronic yeti at the end, you go backwards through the darkness and to top it off the trains are miniature tea trains like they have in nepal and acctually blow smoke and whistle when entering the station lol.
bobbinbop20
03-04-2010, 10:24 PM
I have to admit Everest is the only ride Disney has made that I'm interested in

Nope lol. Its largely landscaping. Youve got the entrance area where you got giant topiaries of characters, then around the waterway before reaching the main lagoon where you got tons of flowers. When the Food and Wine festival comes to town they ramp it up even more. And thats just one park.

I just checked Disney's website, and that's how much a 1-day ticket to EPCOT costs. Sorry, but looking at topiaries, water, and flowers isn't worth $80 to me.

Austin I completely agree with you about Disney. You either love it or hate, but I love it. I haven't been to WDW since I was 5, but I go to Disneyland at least once a year. It's my second favorite park, just behind Cedar Point (even though both parks are hard to compare).
Honestly though, Disneyland and WDW (and Paris and Hong Kong) are nothing compared to Tokyo DisneySea. Look up some photos if you don't know what I'm talking about. That park looks amazing.

03-05-2010, 05:13 PM
Park Hoppers make Disney trips godly. Last time I went to Disney (last time I went to Florida, i didn't go to Disney- I went to Busch Gardens and Universal), we had 5 day park hoppers. We went to each park once, but went back to Magic Kingdom after a quick trip in Animal Kingdom. My parents don't like Animal Kingdom, probably because it smells like animal crap in certain areas. But with that one last day, we went to MGM/Hollywood Studios in the morning to do Rock N Rollercoaster and Muppets 3D once more. Then we walked to Boardwalk (If you park at the Boardwalk resort and walking area, you can get to EPCOT and MGM by walking, you can also take a small boat to both parks entrances (EPCOT's back entrance in France, World Showcase). But both parks are only a walking distance way). to grab a bite to eat. After that, we went to EPCOT, did everything we missed and ate in China at the World Showcase. Then we went back to Magic Kingdom for the fireworks (me and my bro slipped in a Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear ride before the show). Without park hoppers, that day would have never happened.
Austin
03-05-2010, 05:21 PM
Omg lol I know. Disney sea is great but its not even disney owned. Disney is just providing oversight and collecting fees and royalties to use the name and characters. Could you imagine how pissed japan would be if disney said no to the park and dropped it? haha. But still DLR and WDW will never be considered for the best amusement park because they are resorts which sorta isnt fair when they could break it down individually or create a new poll, the best theme park/resort/etc.
We have 4-day park hoppers. This is how we plan to use them:
Day 2 of vacation (day 1 was the full 9 hour drive lol): Animal Kingdom. Ride those rides and then take pictures, head to Magic Kingdom. Eat at 50's primetime cafe at Hollywood studios.
Day 3: Epcot
Day 4: Hollywood studios officially
Day 5: no parks, maybe disney quest.
Day 6: Magic Kingdom
Day 7: Drive back.

Day 3: Epcot
Day 4: Hollywood studios officially
Day 5: no parks, maybe disney quest.
Day 6: Magic Kingdom
Day 7: Drive back.
Tips:
- Don't eat at 50's Primetime Cafe, it's bad. The food was ok, but there is flies everywhere and the floors are nasty.
-Do Disney Quest. Yeah it's a lot of money, but it's insanely fun. Especially the Buzz Lightyear ride (sort of) that is a combo of Bumper Cars, a spinning ride, a vaccum and soccer (you'll understand when you ride it).
-Eat in the World Showcase in EPCOT. Best food ever. I like Mexico and China, they were good. Italy is amazing! The prices are a bit expensive but it's worth it. We got resiavations for it and it easily has the best Fettucini Alferdo and Sausage in the world. It's so good!
-Look for "Hidden Mickeys". Not many people know about them, but I do. I have a list of them, but they have old rides, some places that have been renovated, and etc. Plus I have to find the list.
-Use Boardwalk to go to EPCOT. The entrance at EPCOT can be crazy if you go. If you have a feeling of that, or if you want to start at the World Showcase, or want to eat in the Boardwalk (ESPN zone FTW), or save time from driving into the parking lot and saving money from pay tolls, use Boardwalk. When you go there, you have to go through a booth, just say you are visiting the place, park, walk through the building/ under it, just a long flight of stairs, hang a left past ESPN zone, walk a bit down, and your at the other entrance of EPCOT
-Don't do Stitch's Great Escape first thing in the morning, unless you want the smell of corndog, chili, and Lays potato chips all day long.
-If someone asks what EPCOT stands for, don't tell them Experimental Prototype City Of Tomorrow, say Every Person Comes Out Tired. :D

Haha we always eat at the primetime cafe. But thanks for the tips but we always follow them except disneyquest. Last time we did it was in 2001 when i got sick down there.
My sister made a list but all i can remember is day 2. I do remember we will be eating at bomba at the new Animal kingdom villas (jambo house and kidani village). Another tradition is eating at Chef Mickeys in the top of the Contemporary! I love that place lol.
palmer
03-05-2010, 06:04 PM
^ZOMFG! Chef Mickey's is the shiz! It is amazing!!!!!! I went there once, and i will never forget it. It's so good. And go at night for the fireworks. It's a good spot.
When I went to Animal Kingdom, Bomba (i think that was the restaurant in construction) was under construction.
Trust me, Disney Quest is amazing, plus when I went, my parents didn't. So it was just me and my brother. And we basically went in for free because they people came in and had young children and didn't want to go in with them, so they gave their tickets to use, of course we had to convince the guy that our finger prints were right and the booth was messed up, and we got in.
Anyway, also use flashpasses, if it's packed. It is so useful. You would wait 15 for an hour wait.

Day 4: Hollywood studios officially
Day 5: no parks, maybe disney quest.
Day 6: Magic Kingdom
Day 7: Drive back.
Sounds like a fun trip. Sure you can't squeeze in another Orlando park during an extra day? :p
Whether you do or not, I've learned the best way to have fun on trips where you're in one area for a long time is to just not have a plan and end up doing whatever.
My family planned a trip to WDW when I was 5. We were planning on doing all Disney, but we ended up just doing Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, not liking it cause we thought Disneyland was better, and spending the rest of the trip at Universal. :p

Yeah. Soarin is like 50% of your day. We've skipped it last two trips. not worth waiting in that mass of a line but its a very great ride but the wait is horrible. Probably going to go get a fastpass at Mission space and then hit Test Track, or vice versa. Those are 2 of my favorites in the resort. In fact this is weird. in 1999 i got to experience TT when it first opened, in 2004 i got to experience Mission Space when it first opened, and in 2006 i got to experience Everest when it first opened. Haha i wonder what ill be able to ride this time.
We usually dont have a plan but my sister took charge this year since its for her birthday. But we usually have a general idea of what parks to go to and etc. She based the parks on extra magic hours (MK is open all night friday) and how fast we can finish and move to another park.

^Planet Hollywood is really good, but it freaking loud in there. Disney Quest is just amazingly fun. I love Downtown Disney. It's so nice there, the stores are all nice. Just walking around is a nice thing to do at Downtown Disney. Plus, Giriadellis (I have a very good feeling I spelt it wrong) ice cream and free chocolate squares are amazing! Go there for dessert. Also I heard that new Dino Cafe thing was nice. I remember seeing it under construction, with a huge skeleton of a dinosaur in front of it.

Making your own roller coaster is a lot of fun!
The Cast Members said the maximum number of inversions you could have was 13, but we couldn't get past 9.
Austin
03-07-2010, 07:07 PM
haha yeah it is. When we went to disney quest in 2004 my dad set the inversions to a loop, a corkscrew and something else and i was so scared lol. then when it got to the inversions on it, it slowly rolled over and back to normal lol.

just kidding.
i never got to see it, but the pictures i've seen online for wonders of life are absolutely horrendous looking.
not saying the attractions are bad though, body wars looked cool and so did cranium command. however, i'm not sure how i would feel about martin short teaching me about how babies are made in the "making of me" film.

Out of the 6 years I went to SFFT, I only was there once when they were rediculously packed. That's really rare for that park!
^ and if Power Surge is Packed you know that the park is really PACKED.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So far the parks I am going to this summer is...
Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Six Flags Over Texas
Schliterbahn NB
Schliterbahn Galveston
Schliterbahn SP
Joyland
Cliff's Amusment Park
Morgan's Wonderland
Sea World San Antonio
and which one should I choose, I have never been to them, and which one is the better park:
Six Flags St. Louis
or
Six Flags Over Georgia

Personally, I haven't been to either. Both parks can compare and contrast. From the looks of it, SFOG seems better, but expect more of a crowd there than at SFSTL because of the rides (predominently Goliath) from both parks.
Changsucks
03-20-2010, 01:25 AM
I would go to SFOG. Goliath is probably better than anything at SFStL and Mindbender looks really good too. I also think Georgia Scorcher looks like the best stand up out there.

IDK, Six Flags just doesn't give me "Warm Fuzzies" like they used too. Maybe if they invested more with theming and scenery (they are starting to but nowhere near Universal or others).

It had all the parts you'd want when I rode it. Granted it was only 1 day, but I must have ridden it roughly 15-20 laps. Very intense g's and turns, air time was solid, twistys were a great element.
I had just ridden Maverick about 2 weeks prior to this and it was a very tough call for best steelie in my opinion. Timmy edged Mavy out basically because it was so much faster and more intense. Mavy was a much more complete ride though.

Nice. Let me know what you think of the timberliners!
Shayne
05-24-2011, 08:37 PM
The timberliners are amazing! They really do feel like they track smoother. The only draw back I could possibly see is it being slightly awkward to load because of the way the restraints open.

05-24-2011, 08:43 PM
So you think they would make Voyage 100X better? lol
One other thing I was wondering, were the handles awkward to hold onto? They seem like they would be.
Shayne
05-24-2011, 11:22 PM
Yes, we definitely didn't hold onto the handles however they are very awkward. You're almost better off holding onto the lapbar itself rather than the brace bar.
Austin
05-24-2011, 11:48 PM
Great. I prefer to hold during the drops lol. Not happy about the handle issue. Is there handles on the back of the seats for the other rows? I ended up holding onto those the most on the PTC trains.
Shayne

The ones on the side are fairly easy to use, but its not at all like the PTC's where you had something right there in front that was close enough to not feel awkward.

My friends persist that we "HAVE TO GO" this weekend, because of the 3-day weekend. They don't seem to understand that it's busy as hell.

I wouldn't find it that bad if it's my home park and I know I'll get lots of rides in the next time I go 2 weeks later. If it's a park that I traveled to and payed lots of money for admission, then I just pay a little more for some type of skip the line device.
Just have fun with your friends with a low-key visit; go through shops, get food, and get a few rides, just don't try to go nuts riding coasters or you'll have a bad day.
I am going to a theme park next Tuesday!!
I am heading to SFOT right now cant wait for some Texas Giant!!

Done with Six Flags OT, rode Texas GIANT twice!! Best ride ever of all rides.. PTR coming soon. Now eating and then a four hr drive home

So it appears I may have a mini theme park tour this July! between July 10th and the 14th me and Cody Comet will be going to Strickers Grove then staying the night and going to Kings Island the next day. Then he is trying to plan his show at Beech Bend close to those dates so almost right when I get back we'll be taking a trip down there! Winning? Lmao I think so.

This is the first ever Amusement Park Authority Trip which also makes it the first ever Amusement Park Authority Midwest trip! I decided to go ahead and name it that since we will be hitting up 3 parks and possibly a 4th in 4 days! The definite parks: Beech Bend, Kings Island, & Strickers Grove. The possible one: Holiday World.
We will be starting off in the morning at Beech Bend for his comedy show. Then spending the rest of the day at the park riding Rumbler. That night return to Louisville and sleep. Then go to Holiday World (possibly) and get there at opening. Spend the day there then Drive to Cincinnati and get our Hotel. The next day go to Strickers Grove then shop a little since it won't take very long there. The last day check out and then go right to Kings Island and spend the day there also. That night return to Louisville.
Anybody think they can meet us at the parks? We are looking at dates between July 10th and July 14th.

Haha well if your in the KI area on July 4th stop in at Strickers Grove. Thats another day they plan to be open. I'm pretty excited for this trip. 2 new parks for me, and 10 new coasters.
I'm going to revise my figures tonight to include Holiday World and to not include it. So for those interested stay tuned!

Unfortunately, no strickers grove. I try to avoid KI on holidays.
Austin

Oh lol. July 4th they're open and admission and parking is free. Just have to buy ride tickets.
Ok I have my final number at the moment. This includes gas, hotel, tickets and the dinosaurs alive combo (movie and admission). Individually it will come up to $228.94 and $457.88 in total for two people. Gas was figured up by using my 1997 Ford F-150 with gas prices at $3.93 a gallon.
The breakdown:
Hotel - 2 nights at around $90 a day = $180
Gas = $78
Holiday World Tickets with $4 off discount = $77.90
KI Tickets = $71.98
Dino. Alive Combo = $14
Stricker's Grove Admission = $8
Stricker's Grove Armband (unlimited rides) $28
Pretty much if your planning on going you should be looking at spending right around $230 to $250 not counting food or other money for shopping or anything else.

You can get an $8 discount on Holiday World tickets if you purchase them at Krogers.
Austin
06-04-2011, 10:00 PM
Nice! the 4 dollar discount was with a Pepsi can. Well this shaves another 8 dollars off the costs. Do you remember how much the Meijers tickets are for KI? I remember them being around $25
I am finally going to Colorado on June 26-29th, I will be in Denver, Fort Collins (College tour), and some small town in the mountians. But I will be going to Elitch Gardens on one of those days!!!

KINGS ISLAND ON SUNDAY!!! i have a couple quick questions though. they're on EST right? and if I didn't quite get there at park opening..like maybe around noon or one? would the crowds be absolutely unbearable...i mean, they're open till 10pm so I have time to do a lot of stuff plus the waterpark..soo yeah...
Austin
06-15-2011, 09:57 PM
On the weekend, yeah crowds will be an issue. And yeah theyre EST. I would say your best bet to ride alot of the stuff and the waterpark is to get there pretty much at opening and stay all day.

06-15-2011, 11:04 PM
Yeah, the plan is to stay until closing. I might not do EVERYTHING considering I'm probably going to end up going back at some point again over the summer...
I'm excited..for sure.
